Very solid album. That's pretty much all I've been listening to for the past 2 weeks. Hence the 'Already Home' quote in my sig...

Wow. You gotta go and get some older stuff then. Get Blueprint I, The Black Album, and American Gangster. You will thank me later.

No 'Reasonable Doubt' or 'In My Lifetime: Vol. 1' love? Jay has only had like 2 below average albums, IMO.

Meh. Reasonable Doubt was aaight but there was some better hip hop out around the same time that overshadowed it.

Doug, just don't ever buy the Kingdome Come album. For the love of God, don't!

Reasonable Doubt is Jay Z's best album...What are you talking about kid?

Doug get Reasonable Doubt next then work your way forward chronologically...skipping Kingdom Come.

But it gets no better than Reasonable Doubt for Jay Z IM (CORRECT)O

I wasnt either...I dismissed him as GLAM RAP and didnt like where hip hop/rap was going.

But eventually I got Reasonable Doubt and loved it.

Bring it On is one of my top 37 rap songs of all time.

Very few people were really into Jay before Hard Knock Life.

You're right. Hard Knock Life was his first solid hit but at the time, I did acknowledge that Jay-Z had skills. He out-rapped Biggie Smalls on that song Young G's. In fact, it seems every featured artist out-rapped Biggie Smalls. Eminem KILLED Biggie on that song Dead Wrong.

Biggie Smalls = Overrated. Yeah, I fucking said it!

I like Biggie but Method Man killed on "the what"

incidentally the hypnotize remix feat 2pac and Snoop is pretty good.

Truth be told, I had In My Lifetime first and didn't get RD till later. Too busy listening to Outkast and Goodie Mob around that time...

Thank you for saying that. 2 albums does not make a legend. I don't really count the one with all the guests that Puffy threw together.

Em did kill Biggie on Dead Wrong. He also killed Jay on Renegade...

Yeah, Method's verses were sick. See what I mean? Biggie Smalls wasn't anything special.

Rappers that were/are better than Biggie Smalls:

Eminem
Method Man
Jay-Z
Raekwon
Ghostface
Redman
2-Pac
Nas
Mos Def
L.L.
Kurupt
Aasim
Termanology
Outkast
Twista
Buk (of Psychodrama)
Kweli
Lupe
Royce Da 5'9"
Kid Cairo :shock:

Need I continue?

GZA

I agree most of those guys are better, although Kurupt's solo albums were HUGE disappointments, and i dont care for Twista

But you guys may be going too far the other way now.

Biggie was good. Overrated? Yes. But still very good.

Good call on GZA. I also forgot about Big Pun.

Biggie Smalls was good. That's just it. Good. Not great, not awesome...just good.

Post subject:  Re: Jay-Z Blueprint III

I agree with most of those, save Twista. His lyrics are sub par, his flow is good.

I thought it was ridiculous how Biggie was put on the same level as Pac when he died. Ridiculous. Biggie was very good, not one of the greatest. Not a big enough body of work...

Biggie= Terrell Davis
2 pac= John Elway
Method Man= Jerry Rice
Ghostface=Lawrence Taylor
RZA= George Hallas
Nas= Ronnie Lott

40 Cents=Cade McNown

Maybe. It seems like people were really quick try to make guys hip hop legends back in the 90's when they had one great album. This is what happened to Nas at first. Illmatic was great, then he came out with a bunch of booty. All the people who labeld him great were like 'Uh oh' because they made him 'one of the best' too soon. Luckily, he redeemed himself with Stillmatic and God's Son...

Please tell me you're joking cuz this is the most ridiculous shit I've ever read on this board. I'll give you Pac, Nas, Jay as far as bein on BIG's level and Em, Andre, Ghost and maybe Mos for bein close but the rest should never be mentioned in the same sentence(except for Aasim and Termanology. never heard of them)

Is a duo technically a group? Maybe Shark can ask the RIAA.
