They should probably have their own section, but Ill just use this thread.

Ill be posting my thoughts here.

I imagine you're on the edge of your seats.

My Current favorite Wu Tang Verses for each member are
Rza- After the Smoke is Clear- Ironman
Underprivileged,
Grew up in a Stapelton house village,
Where blood flood the water in the streets like oil spilage
When the water was flowin (Tang-O-Phonics number one)
I spot a fifty-five borough
A nigga was still flowin,
Voice was echoin
I rise high like an Opera's
Procter wouldn't Gamble
The sample, it shocked her
My ninjas run wilder than Shaka Zulu
Some play peace like Donny the Guru
Others live to be wise and old like Desmond Dutchu
Undisputed champion
Bell holders
Shape and mold us
Sole controler of the moon
I, solar and polar
I blow half smoke through my nasal
Bust my ways with thirty words
Wu-Tang wasn't for children like
Cannibals raidin Sicilians

Gza-Knock, Knock - The Legend of the Liquid Sword
I'm the outscene slang kicker with no parental sticker
Risin y'all that wise words is much slicker
Under circumstances label advances
Ample opportunity, infinite chances
The rhyme, the unrelated beef I don't stress
I seen many killed for inifinte-e-less
Ya raps need a clips that packed with lies
Cowardlessly ya shot up those innocently wise
In extra long verses hundred bars the lim'
The percentage of the truth in the rhyme is one tenth
A solid mass of minerals, easily broke down
Hard rock MC's ya nothin but compound
Sparked by the endless greed of CEO's
in the videos with those questionable flows
Take it twenty-six, cut it down to four bars, make it a hook
if it's not I'm sure to send a book

Ghostface Killah- D.T.D.- No Said Date
Yo, I got muscles in my index finger, even my mirror is diesel
To scope two, so I could read you
Without a jack, there, I'm still hittin' up people
You were starvin' for beef, I had to feed you
It's funny how Toney got a lot of sons around
Nice dirty crib, with a lot of guns around
Layin' up in Cheetah's, chillin'
Treatin' niggaz like cavities, lead rocks'll be in your filling
Bosses, C.E.O.'s, head niggaz in charge'll get whacked
Actors, even down to the stars, you'll get clapped
Skip back, I'm not a bullshit rapper
My gun really do go off like that
This is Ghost, high post, get your pot roast coked
When the glock burst, it's all about clockwork
Fuck around, and go to hell with a hot shirt
I don't go to Chinatown for my fireworks
I go to Aakmei, test him for a bomb, first
Make sure he ain't lyin', tell on me, his eye'll squirt
Ghost Deini is real, me and Killa'll peel
Your cap back, and deliver the mil'
Niggaz be pullin' out, but they don't use 'em
Big giant joints, they stat and lose 'em
The big yellow, this shit'll push your crew in
Look you dead in your face, like "What ya'll doing?"
Ain't killin' nothin', so stop pursuing
Fuckin' with my click, you'll just get ruined
Blowin' the weight, like breeze did brewing
By the way, who the fuck, let ya'll fools in?

Raekwon- REC Room Therapy-Big Doe Rehab
Yo, we been bagging since 18, kid, Polo Rugs on with gloves on
Rented cars, fronting on winning broads
Gum slow, half moon, leather pants, Avia' days
Keep your hands off my blunt and my waves
Beneton, Superman bomb, everybody in the lobby, we clapping
Hats on, protecting your moms, you know how we play
Spray something down if the team say
It's on, I dedicate my lines to the PJ's
Triple beams, Pyrex jars, smoking nickle weeds
All we did is look mad fly, icicle rings
Whatever homeboy, you want it? You could get your receipt
A little closer, you can sense we got heat, it's only me
Plus four other ill gangstas, we all anxious
To blow up your block and spank shit

Method Man-Justice For All- The Swarm
Yo In The Heat of The Night
my 4-7-7 mash on the mic
Killarmy and Trappa John M.D.
full metal jackets
cuz' some gots to have it
kill or be killed
only time will reveal
I think by myself
and I drink by myself
from 9-8 until
let me know its real son if its really real
understandable
self explainable
caution John Blaze flamable
when under pressure, interchangable and still
coming down like precipitation as I reign undesputed
how Johnny do it
dangerously, whoppin cough (cough, cough)
two and off
stank pussy make my dick soft (huh)
bottom line be this high, explosive
not for the average Joseph
come and get some
hol' it, keep one
up in the chamber
blast wit' my middle finger
now I toss men
attack like the Four Horsemen
see me dog walkin'
strickly getty-o slang talkin'
all up in thease guts, soften
thease rap niggas, official
we slap niggas
wit' mak' charges
dope shit regardless
we usually take another niggas garments (what)

Inspectah Deck-Rules-Iron Flag
Yes yes y'all, the I-N-S bless y'all
Stop hearts like cholesterol, let's brawl
Never fall, tear it down like a wreckin ball
Role call where my niggaz that's one for all
And all for one, we draw the guns on impulse
Cash in the envelope, spend it on kinfolk
Then smoke a ounce as we count mills
Providin you pure ecstasy without pills

U-God-Sound the Horns-Chamber Music

Yo, you're hog-tied, I'm roping them, bitches, I'm gropping them
Open up your veins, cop three bags of Dopium
Super soak these niggas, stroke with the magnum force
Leak it in the streets quick, peep my secret sauce
I keep it gloss, I'm suited up for my franchise
Your coins is tossed, man-handle bad guys
Scramble for my damn prize, crack cans of cold Guinness
I'm like Seabiscuit, I'mma win by a photo finish
Nigga, this ain't tennis, yeah, I ain't bluffing shit
I be the street menace on my David Ruffin shit
Police ain't cuffing shit, claiming I'm a crook
Throw up my middle finger, I'm a hall of famer in my book
Right hook, death jooks, great with my footwork
Bubble through, got the W on my hood shirt
Sneak through the wood works like poisonous high fumes
I'm that superhero with the brand new costume

Masta Killa- The Jump Off- The W
That's word to Jah Mo, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Blowin hydro on a beach wit Tamiko
My gun bullet hollow for you to swallow
Blowin the nozzle, hear it whistle
One in the head, this is code red, man for dead
X amount of lead spray from the barrel
Heat clear the street like Connor O'Carroll
Fully equipped, rifles, banana clip shit
To make my niggas from East New York flip

Cappadonna- Daytona 500- Ironman
Give me the the fifty thou, small bills
My gold plate, my slang kills
My Benz spills, whattup Lils
Murder one Dunn
Killer bee stung, guess who back home Son
My technique of slang camp won, third platoon soon
Cristal bottles, cages of boom, probably wardrobe
The mad-hatter big dick style, beware goons
smuggle balloons, lord of dooms, in fat pussy wombs
Let the Gods build, pull up the grill
Check out the mad skills
Top secret technique, too hard for you to peep it
and keep it, jiggy style of rap and watchin knuckle slang
sweep it out of order ape recorder can't record my slaughter
spoil the rotten Don is too good to be forgotten
High top notch, borderline rhymes is handcocked
Ninety-six, my ill sound clash is still hot
Get yourself shot

O.D.B.- Dirty Mef- 4:21 The Day After...
(Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, fuck)
Hahahaha.. yeah..

Yo, you don't wanna ride with Dirt, you still stuck in coach
You don't wanna fly in first, yo, I can spit
One verse, and leave in a new Benz-er
Take a trip down south and put some hoes to work, you hear me
Dirt McGirt, you niggaz gon' respect it
I'm drunk and crunk so don't come in my direction
I'm ready to thump, and get the whole crew arrested
Bail 'em out, and laugh about it in Texas, yo
And get with Rome, down in Caki-Lac
And hit the spot, in the hood where the happenings at
Where the shootin' and the fightings and the stabbings at
Where the Lincolns and the Chevys and the Cadi's at, shit
Them down south niggaz been loved Dirt
Take a shot to the head, if you been through the worse
Show respect to your niggaz, who been doin' it first
And be comin' with that shit, I'm just doin' the worse

I need some time to ponder this one. I have to rock with The Beatles of Hip Hop once again today to start ranking.

Current being the operative word.

If I had to make that list again...it would be different

Yeah I'm hip to the "current" vibe of it. I figure this is just the place to wax poetic about all things WU Mr. Mangi errr RPB.

I saw Wu Tang with Rage Against The Machine years ago at the World aka Tweeter Center aka whatever else it's been called. Great show! Saw Aerosmith the next night too.

Okay I've always wondered about this particular lyric and what it means.

Watch for the wooden soldiers, C-Cypher-Punks couldn't hold us
A thousand men rushing in, not one nigga was sober
Perpendicular to the square, we stand bold like Flare

Now I was always under the assumption he was saying stay gold like Flair which made me think he was referring to Ric Flair and his penchant for being the champ. Others have told me that no, it's definitely "stand bold." If it is stand bold like flare, then I'm lost. I know my love of wrestling might be clouding my head here, but the Ric Flair connection always made the most sense to me.

We stand GOLD like Flair ...meaning the belt and the bling flair wore. Im almost certain. Listening to a live version might tell the tale. Even if he says bold, hes definitely refering to the Real Worlds Champion....ALSO, Stone cold like Steve Austin, broke motherfuckn backs like ken patera

Yeah that's what I always thought. I thought because of their wrestling references, "Stomp your ass like Wahoo McDaniel" it made the most sense.

I used to LOVE the Wu. Ever since the 1st album i was amazed cuz each member was so dope and before that no crew had come out like they did with 9 MC's who can carry they own albums. I started writing lyrics in 96 and at the time my style was similar to INS and Masta until I eventually found my own style. I used to remember the hype before every wu joint dropped and it was nothin like it as far as hip hop went.
I always wished they evolved instead of tryin to keep it 93. What they always did best was blend old school soul and hip hop with the new shit. They lost their chemistry and way with the petty squabbles they had with eachother.

I think they probably should have stopped making records as the Clan after The W. Maybe I'm blaspheming there, but I like to remember them as great, not just good. Plus, at what age should an MC stop rapping? Will there ever be a 50 something MC that is still putting out good tracks? I thought maybe Rakim or KRS One would have been the guy, but no so much anymore.

Who am I kidding, rap started its long and painful death as soon as Master P and his ilk started to gain popularity. Once people starting equating them with good Southern Hip Hop, it was all over.

I know this thread is Wu Tang titled but I figure it's the best place to continue overall Hip Hop dialogue.

I was recently having a discussion with a close friend about the best MC's that never were. We talked of The D.O.C. and Canibus as the two biggest examples of greatness that could have been. With The D.O.C. I think it's obvious his accident is what hampered him, but the Canibus case is altogether different.

The first time I heard Canibus, I was like whoa! (Thank you Black Rob) His lyrics were top notch and he seemed to be well respected and highly regarded in the Hip Hop world. So what the hell happened? So just how did he fall so hard so fast? I know most people point to his ill fated decision to place his career in the hands of Wyclef, but there has to be more to it than that, doesn't there? Bad production can bring you down no doubt, but the guy's skills were just too good to be hampered in such a negative way. His talent was such that a successful comeback should have been inevitable.

Others speak to his battle with LL Cool J as the start of his descent into mediocrity and eventual Bolivian. (Mike Tyson) That reasoning never sat well with me, because I always felt, and still do to this day; that he slayed LL and was the victor in said war. So what was it, what happened to Canibus? Are my friend and I completely wrong in our assessment of Canibus' talent and potential?

Here's a little reminder of the beef between the two. You be the judge.

yeah I assumed some of it if not most of it was old...it's just stuff produced by Mathematics. I'm about 75% through the download so might as well finish it and listen to it. to be honest i can't really think of a standout track that mathematics produced....

Other than C.R.E.A.M. and a couple singles they were never mainstream like Jay Z, Big, Dre etc. You should buy "36 Chambers", but beware, you will then want "Forever". After listening to that you'll wonder what all the "...cuban linx" refernces mean. So you'll buy that. At this point you're like thinking Ghost is awesome. So your decision is "Supreme Clientele" or "Ironman"? You will get both. After hearing Wu Gambinos youre wondering man Rza is awesome whats his best album? But its not his. Its Gza/Genius "Liquid Swords". Fast forward 5 years you're in a shop in Staten Island getting a tatoo of the "Iron Flag" cover after bidding successfully at auction for the original actual "Purple Tape"...Wu Tang

See, Rick I wasnt joking. This will happen. Wu Tang.

hey- while Roger has renewed my interest in Wu, it's not like it was never there

I just figured since my dog kind of destroyed my Ironman CD, and since I already have the first ODB & Raekwon albums (thanks RBP) on vinyl, should go for the Ghostface

....and I saw the Reckless in the Loop has Uncontrolled Substance for like 8$ on 2xLP

Ive been listening to Forever a lot recently.

I have to say, its better than 36 Chambers. I think the whole first album thing combined with the fact that the double disc just has too many songs to compare clouds conventional wisdom.

Ive taken the liberty of editing the album down to one Unbelievably awesome disc.

1 Wu-Revolution (Papa Wu)
2 Reunited (GZA, ODB, RZA, Method Man)
3 Cash Still Rules/Scary Hours (Raekwon, Method Man, Ghostface)
4 Severe Punishment (U-God, GZA, Raekwon, RZA, Masta Kila)
5 As High As Wu-Tang Get (ODB, Method Man, GZA)
Rza Hip Hop Speech
6 Triumph (ODB, INS, Method Man, Cappadonna, U God, RZA, GZA, Masta Killa, Ghost, Raekwon)
7 Deadly Melody (Masta Killa, U God, Meth, RZA, GZA, Ghost, Streetlife)
8 The Projects (Raekwon, Method Man, Ghostface)
9 Heaterz (Raekwon, INS, ODB, Cappadonna)
10 Hellz Wind Staff (Streetlife, Ghost, INS, RZA, Raekwon)
11 Bells Of War (U God, Meth, RZA, Ghostface)
12 It's Yourz (Raekwon, U God, INS, RZA, Ghostface)

Now you have 12 extra cuts to spread out over all the sophomore albums that were good, but not great. Now they can be great.
Imagine adding these songs to these albums

Visionz- Tical 2000 Judgement Day
For Heavens Sake - Uncontrolled Substance
Older Gods -Immobilarity
Maria - Return to the 36 Chambers
A Better Tomorrow- Beneath the Surface
Duck Seazon - Bobby Digital
Impossible- Bulletproof Wallets
Little Ghetto Boys- Immobilarity
The City - Uncontrolled Substance
The M.G.M.- Immobillarity
Dog Shit- Nigga Please
Black Shampoo- Golden Arms

Wu Tang
