That's some horrible album art.

Agreed with Doug - first disc will always have a place in my heart, couldn't care less about anything else from them.

That's a damn good Rock Band song right there...

"Specialist" is one of the best songs of the decade. Turn on the Bright Lights was pretty cool but samey. The other two albums...? :?

The band lost a lot of its mystique when I realized that I, too, can be Paul Banks. Want to write the words to an Interpol song? Randomly string together words that fit a basic eighth-note rhythm, then sing them all on the same pitch without breathing if you can help it. Eggs-are-on-the-ta-ble-and-the-lights-are-in-the-sky-but-if-you-sleep-with-me-to-night-you'll-have-to-ride-the-mid-night-train-with-the-spirits-of-the-feel-and-the-de-mons-of-your-mind-OUR-LOVE-IS-LIKE-A-SUBWAAAAY.

By the way, this thread title can be interpreted as an interrogative and imperative sentence.

 Brilliant. You'll need an angular haircut inspired by an M.C. Escher print and a skinny tie, though.

Tony Conrad did an experimental video in the 80's where he repeats the phrase: "I'm gonna make you think about..." followed by a person or object, e.g. "your father," "the time," "Conway Twitty," etc. That's what you just did there.

You know, as much as I love Frank Zappa, that love never fully transferred to Captain Beefheart.

I like stuff in that vein, but TMR just gets a little tedious for me, y'know?

Bumping this thread for the Captain's recent demise and finally getting around to the new Interpol album. It's kinda not good. Hope I like Safe as Milk.

Turn Out the Bright Lights has held up quite well. Antics, not so much.
