That's some horrible album art. Agreed with Doug - first disc will always have a place in my heart, couldn't care less about anything else from them. |

"Specialist" is one of the best songs of the decade. Turn on the Bright Lights was pretty cool but samey. The other two albums...?  The band lost a lot of its mystique when I realized that I, too, can be Paul Banks. Want to write the words to an Interpol song? Randomly string together words that fit a basic eighth-note rhythm, then sing them all on the same pitch without breathing if you can help it. Eggs-are-on-the-ta-ble-and-the-lights-are-in-the-sky-but-if-you-sleep-with-me-to-night-you'll-have-to-ride-the-mid-night-train-with-the-spirits-of-the-feel-and-the-de-mons-of-your-mind-OUR-LOVE-IS-LIKE-A-SUBWAAAAY. |

Tony Conrad did an experimental video in the 80's where he repeats the phrase: "I'm gonna make you think about..." followed by a person or object, e.g. "your father," "the time," "Conway Twitty," etc. That's what you just did there.
