...has always been one of my favorite F'Lips tracks. But the plodding tempo was a miscalculation on Coyne's part, IMO, much like the Beatles' decision to slow down the recorded tempo of "Rain," which diminishes the greatest drumming of Ringo's career. So, using the most basic audio software imaginable, I sped "Postman" up & it's an improvement, but not perfect. Maybe it's sacrilege, I don't know. Had the song arrived during the cleaner production of post-Zaireeka era, it'd work more as an anthem. Perhaps the sludginess/density is essential. It's a rare Flaming Lips song that is better experienced live than listening to the album (in the contemporary A/V assault style of Lips shows, not in the raw psychedelic era). Anyway, if you want to download it as a 320 KPS MP3, it's all yours: http://gocosmonaut.com/promotion/lightning.mp3 |

It's been all downhill since The Soft Bulletin. Drozd's drums were so integral to those 90's albums, and now? That Kliph dude can eat a dick. |
