Holy Shit. They've had 25 of these? I remember watching the first one and heard rumors of a few since then. No idea. I'd be excited to see everybody you didn't *. I'd be excited for Mellencamp too, but I've seen him before. Chesney will put on a far better show than anybody listed. You should stick around for that. |

Do not like "Nashville Country", so I can do without Chesney. I've seen the BoDeans before - only because I wanted to see the band opening for them (The Refreshments). BoDeans do nothing for me. A Dave Matthews concert is like every frat party you've ever been to, without the upside. I guess in my world he's like Buffett, you probably should see them once, but there's nothing special to see there. I look forward to Nelson and Young - never seen them before and you never know how much longer they have on the road. |

Nelson I'll give you. Neil Young can suck car exhaust for all I care. Awful. |

I went to the 1st one (button 48). It was pretty cool, from what I remember. Pulled up, got out of the car and proceeded to drop the sandwiches I had brought into a giant puddle. |

I remember going to one in Tinley Park about 6 or 7 years ago (my memory is a little fuzzy about the actual date), but it was a pretty good show. |

Went one in Ames, Iowa in 1993. Wish I hadn't - just too long of a day with music I didn't care about. |

Dr Ken, your hickness is really coming out now. I expect it from a guy like spank, who's spent major parts of his life in Rockford and Joliet. But I expect more out of you. Disappointed. |

Long day. But pretty good overall. Despite saying that the roof would be open "because the farmers work out in the elements every day", the roof stayed closed the entire time. The Good: -Mellencamp was the highlight of the show, IMO. He knows how to energize a crowd of any size, and it was long day already by the time he took the stage. -Norah Jones was real good. She somehow made the place seem kind of "intimate". -Lukas Nelson is one the best blues/rock guitarists I have ever seen live. He tore through his own set, then played his dad's entire set also. His singing voice is terrible, but the dude can play guitar. He's a far better player than somebody like Johnny Lang, IMO. -Amos Lee put on a good show despite one technical difficulty after another. I would definitely go see him again if given the chance. -Kenny Chesney actually had sleeves on his shirt and shoes on his feet, so he at least had that going for him. I did actually watch his entire set. He was tolerable. The Bad: -Neil Young can stop whatever it is he's trying to do now. As much energy and life that Mellencamp brought to the place, Young killed it all when he played next. He was the loudest performer, but that didn't even help him. I would struggle to find one good thing to say about his set. He rambled/lectured/mumbled between every freakin song too. -One of the worst shows I've seen Jeff Tweedy do. He and Chesney were also the only "big names" that I did not see come and do any type of collaboration with anybody else (though I wasn't driving, so things were getting a little hazy after 12 hours ). The "meh": -Willie was ok. -Jason Mraz was ok. -BoDeans were ok, but I swear their set less than 20 minutes long. -Dave Matthews/Tim Reynolds were actually better than ok, but not one of the top 3 moments of the show. At least 50% of the crowd was there just to see him, apparently. -Collaborations were ok, nothing spectacular. They are replaying 6 hours of this on DirecTv101 periodically if you're interested. |
