Reunited grunge legends Soundgarden have issued the following update:

"Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together — exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon.

"Thank you for all of the support!"

Asked if he would like to make an all-new Soundgarden album, singer Chris Cornell recently told The Pulse Of Radio he's up for it. "Having not written a Soundgarden album in so long, I'd think it'd be really exciting to do it, just to be working on music with those guys again," he said.

"It certainly feels like it would be really fresh and we could probably push boundaries we didn't do before, as well as complete some specific feel or some aspect of the band musically that I felt like we brushed up against, but we never perfected, you know."

Soundgarden released a CD/DVD retrospective set last September called "Telephantasm", featuring singles, album cuts, live material and the previously unavailable "Black Rain", which was nominated for a Grammy Award.

I am completely content never hearing another soundgarden song. Its taken many years to cleanse my ears of Black Hole Sun and I am not prepared to go through that again.

They were decent. I liked the early stuff.

Agree on Black Hole Sun...that's a song that will not get out of your head.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Soundgarden. Chris Cornell was one of my favorite frontmen of the 90's, but that guy hasn't been able to sing for about 10 years now. I would've been fine if they never even reunited.

I didn't really listen to Audioslave so I don't have a "recent" reference. I also didn't listen to a note of his solo album.

His solo albums sucked. The first Audioslave album was really good, the second meh.

Personally, I liked the second Audioslave album better, but the third was a horse abortion.

I thought Euphoria Morning had some decent tracks. I didn't hear any of his album he did with Timbaland, which seemed to be one of the worst collaboration ideas I think I have ever heard of.

Interesting. Pearl Jam is probably due to go into the studio soon, so I wonder what Matt Cameron will end up doing.

I'm kind of on the fence about this. I aboslutely loved "Down on the Upside" and was devastated when I heard they were breaking up back in '97.

Audioslave was just meh....ok. CC's solo stuff even more meh.

I just hope that this new album isn't a complete drop off from "DOTU". Judging by their recent Conan performance, I didn't care too much for that song. I'm crossing my fingers. :|
