Love 'em. New album is out March 22nd. I have about half the songs, but I refuse to listen. I'm old-fashioned and will be waiting to buy the album next week. If anyone wants the link, send me your e-mail.

I really liked their last album and I'm really looking forward to this one. I picked up a 45 of their newest single last week, but I haven't given it a listen yet.

If it isn't imbued with metro-pop shit, I'll probably like it.

I'll listen to it in the next couple days.

Yes, I'm hoping Julian left his solo career stuff in his solo career.

Not bad. Pretty much your standard Strokes song.

New single is fantastic, and Julian's solo album was quite good, IMO.

Being an old fart and knowing virtually nothing about modern music,
I thought this thread was going to be about Boers and Bernstein.

Hipsters NEVER think theyre hipsters

Anyway the strokes are good.

The Strokes are way too commercially popular to be liked by hipsters.

Any band that has a "new sound" is usually tapped out by album 3. Sometimes album 2.
I like these guys, but I'm not hearing anything new.

Based on the first three albums and the times I've seen them live, the Strokes could fart into a mic, and I would enjoy it. Having said that, I'm not feeling Angles at all. Ugh. I want so badly to like it. Gonna give it a couple more listens at the gym tonight.

I thought their third album was a step in a different direction, and I might rate it as my favorite album of theirs. Haven't heard the new one yet. I might try to pick it up tomorrow.

Should I bump some cousin-raping Korn music? Would that suite you better?

you know what I'm saying though...
I wish I could listen to more music and fill the gaps, but I just can't listen to music for enjoyment anymore*

*unless it does exactly what I want it to in that moment. one of my 6 bands...or something new that I'm interested in. Otherwise, I have zero patience. "My Listening" is because it's being written or I need to learn it.

aside:
I have to say that what I write is influenced by what I'm listening to. and I think that's a bad thing...so, I don't listen unless I know I'm not going to steal from it. or...if I do, I'll hide it enough.
I listen to way too much sports radio. I should stop doing that.

I guess I'm just amazed at the library of bands that many of you guys have. I can't digest it all.
For instance...Douchebag, I've never heard a Tossers song before.

Just bought Angles and Is This It (already had the middle 2 records) on iTunes. $9.99x2 on iTunes VS $12.99x2 at Target.
Lost my copy of Is This It, and Angles is brand new.
This band is fucking frustrating. The Fenders always sound flawless. The drums almost always sound like shit.
The songs are good, but if what I've read is true, it sounds like Julian wasn't in the same zip code while this was being recorded.
I know he has said they are basically doing this for the money. You couldn't pay me to eat a fucking Happy Meal with some people I used to play with.
Lollapalooza must be big bucks. The guitar interplay is as good as The Strokes have ever been. I like it, but I don't think I love it.
Room on Fire is my favorite.

B-

And the final track has an obvious Joy Division "homage" that you would expect from a band on their debut or 2nd record.
C'mon.
