Anyone ever see a show or concert here? Just curious what kind of venue this would be to see a rock concert. I saw a show at the Chicago Theatre a few months ago and I highly doubt I would ever go there to see a musical act again. |

Went to a Roosevelt U graduation ceremony there. I think it could be a decent venue depending on who you are seeing. If it's a rock concert, might be kind of weird |

I would never want to see a rock show in a theatre type setting ever, but that's just me. Never been to Auditorium Theatre though. |

I saw Tom Waits at the Chicago Theatre in 1999, and that's the only time I've ever been there. T-Bone, who did you see there, and why didn't you like it? I remember the place being quite nice. |

rogers park bryan wrote: Ive seen awesome shows at Chicago Theater Not sure whats wrong with you guys I just prefer going to smaller venues compared to the large arena or large theater settings. Not a fan of just sitting in a chair all night and being extremely far from the stage. I'd take a Aragon or Riv show over anything at Chicago Theatre. The capacity of both places is also probably somewhat similar. I'm not saying the large theatre experience is bad for everyone, but it's just not my thing. |

(Yeah I, know - You're happy for me.) I've seen over a hundred concerts there from The Who and The Eagles to quieter acts like Cat Stevens and Harry Chapin. It is an acoustically perfect theater - everything sounds magnificent. |

I've seen Wilco, White Stripes and a few other bands at the Auditorium. I've only had seats located on the main floor beyond the balcony overhangs, but great sight lines and great sound down there. They do have a surfeit of various balconies and if you get stuck up in one of those I could see it not being worth the ticket price. |

I went to see John Mellencamp there and maybe it was because my seats were in the top balcony almost in the back but I thought that place sucked. Yes it is beautiful and the sound wasn't bad or anything but way up in the nose bleeds the stairs are so steep and the seating is really uncomfortable. One wrong step and you are either sitting in someones lap or breaking your neck. Maybe it is different on the lower level. As for the Auditorium, NearWessSide answered essentially what I was looking for. It appears that My Morning Jacket may be playing there in June so I thought I might try to catch that show. They are what I would consider alternative rock but it isn't heavy metal or anything. |

MMJ at the Auditorium sounds pretty sweet. tix on sale this Saturday. looks like they already had a pre-sale. I like the Auditorium much better than the Chicago theater for live rock shows. Seems like the seating area in the Auditorium is more north-south than east-west and not as sunken in below the stage as at the Chicago. |

I've seen the same band at both venues and it's alright. The sound is decent for the most part. The Pabst and Riverside Theaters in Milwaukee are great places to see bands. |

Pabst has seating but it's usually general admission and first come/first served and bring a friend to hold your seat when you're making beer runs type of situation. Same deal at the Riverside? Headed up there for a show next month. Turner hall is also very nice. But I think it's the smallest of those 3. |

My mistake...Turner Hall and Riverside is where I've been and both were ticket seating. |

Upcoming show at the Riverside says GA for all seats. Riverside looks like the most capacious of the three and last time through Milwaukee Oberst and friends didn't even sell out Turner, so I expect they'll be well below capacity on a Sunday night. Pabst is cool in that you can get to/from the venue via an inside sky-walk thing from the hotel, iirc. Also, there's an (in)famous unmarked bar right near there. |

I believe you are talking about The Safehouse. It is a pretty cool place if you have never been there before. An even cooler place is right around the corner from there called the Milwaukee Press Club. They have dozens of small pieces of chalkboard material with all kinds of famous people that have signed them over the past 100 years. Anyone from presidents to sports figures to celebrities. Just a cool little place. One little secret about the place is if you ask the bartender to "spin you in" to the Safehouse he'll take you to a back booth, hits a switch and the entire booth spins into the other bar's dancefloor. Now that is a way to make an entrance and you don't have to make a fool out of yourself trying to figure out the password to the bar from the main entrance. Ah... drunken memories. http://www.milwaukeepressclub.org/about ... om-pub.php |

Yeah, that is it. Also there is a back way to get out in the phone booth. I think you put 50 cents in the phone and a false wall opens up and you walk down the strairs and it spits you out in the alley by the river. Very unique place that has a spy theme. Also, when you order mixed drinks they'll put them in one of those bank teller tubes and send it around the bar and that is how they mix some of the cocktails. |
