I know most people on here are not big DMB fans, but they are headlining a pretty awesome tour this summer that seems like it will be a Lollapalooza type deal.

They'll be in Chicago July 8th-10th. DMB performs a full set every night, but other acts performing include David Gray, Ray Lamontagne, O.A.R., Ben Folds, Kid Cudi, Flaming Lips, G Love and Special Sauce, Emmylou Harris and there's a lot more.

Tickets go on sale 4/15 if anyone is interested.

"The second Dave Matthews Band Caravan stop of the summer will take place at Chicago's Lakeside on July 8th-10th. Located on Chicago's south shore of Lake Michigan, just a short distance from downtown, the Chicago stop will feature a full set by headliner Dave Matthews Band each night along with a diverse line-up of artists on three different stages.

Dave Matthews Band Caravan will be the first-ever event held at Lakeside, where the panoramic view of downtown Chicago across the water will provide a backdrop for the festival. Attendees can easily access Lakeside by Metra train, CTA Red Line, bus, bicycle and car. There is ample onsite parking and a carpool program will be available to help connect those who would like to share a ride."

This sounds cool. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these acts up at Summerfest
since that is going on before this Caravan rolls through.

The Flaming Lips performing Dark Side Of The Moon? :pukel:
Talk about a band I used to LOVE, that I just basically have no use for anymore. :(

Drozd needs to get back on drums, Coyne needs to change his fucking suit he's been wearing for the last 10 years, get rid of the bubble, and ask Ronald Jones to come back.
Oh... and write some decent songs like they used to in the 90's. :x

You're in luck!

I was asking what venue so I knew what area to avoid that weekend, but nobody gave me the chance to use my awesome Cairo-esque punchline.

This was a lot of fun actually. Went Friday and Sunday Nights. On the grounds where US Steel used to be, so nice big open area, never felt too crowded. Obviously the abundance of drunk 17 year olds is annoying, but never had to wait in line for beer/food/pisser and saw some solid performances.

It looks like there were some great bands playing on Saturday. Umphrey's McGee, moe., and Yonder Mountain String Band would be worth the price of admission.

I really wish I could have made at least one day. Any idea why this area hasn't already been redeveloped? I saw the overhead shots, and it seems like it could be a prime location one day.

An article I was reading about the event talked about that a few developers have some proposals to develop Condo's there. The entire neighborhood could use some city $$

This is still the type of crowd he draws? I know you are going to get this at a lot of different concerts, but I would have thought that a lot of these people have grown up a little bit and maybe realized that choosing to enjoy the show is better than getting so fucked up that you can't remember any songs that he played.

The area still is still da hood, my family is from that area (83rd Burley). There is still lots of gang activity there and it isn't exactly ideal for the suburbanites to venture to this neighborhood.Heard some friends who still live out that way mention that parking was a bitch around their own house, and lots of police presence.
