That was decent... He was sitting there reading the lines off that piece of paper, and in the comments someone who was listening to the show said he wrote those verses in 10 minutes. Not bad. He's always been super slept on IMO... A lot of these older MCs don't really go off the top regularly like they did earlier in their careers. I'm sure if you the reader are a hip hop head than you know Freestyling is a skill that needs constant practice... Most established MCs have been writing Albums so they can't do the dynamic transition back to spewing hot fiah like they would've as a youngster... Royce is a quality lyricist. I'd bet any amount of money he's been paid nice checks to ghost write rhymes for a heavyweight or two. 'Bad Meets Evil' is still one of my favorite tracks from the Slim Shady LP... |
