Let's just say I understand why these songs were left off the main album.

Hate Train
Just a Bullet Away
Hell and Back
Rebel of Babylon

You need to put the Metallica down and just move on.

I liked Justice. Blackened was nice. Havester was very nice too. Nice Burton work on TLITD. Overall enjoyable, especially if you give them a mulligan on the video for One.

Well, I've never been the biggest Metallica fan. Frankly, I'll take Kill 'Em All and I don't need the rest of them.

In my best hardcore band we used to play "Whiplash" all the time when we were practicing. The drummer and bass player were the kind of guys who just have an innate sense of timing. They were just never, ever off. But the other guitar player and me were a different story. We were always a little shaky. I'm the kind of guy who sometimes has to count. I'm just not a natural musician. Anyway, we could never keep time properly on "Whiplash" and the drummer would sneer at us. Whenever one of us came slightly off time he would shake his head and say, "It's another 'Whiplash'." Eventually "another 'Whiplash'" simply became shorthand for something one of us fucked up.

They're madly in anger with you!

The Black Album was a great, slickly produced "heavy" metal album for the masses. Nothing wrong with that, it isn't pure Metallica but after seeing what they did with Load/Re-Load that was the direction they went.

St. Anger wasn't that good at all and Death Magnetic was "meh".

Their time has passed, the well is dry. No shame in that but their is plenty of shame continuing on making bad albums, embarrassing documentaries and albums that sound like a really good cover band trying to make a Metallica album.

Awesome...this thread again...so I guess I'll play the part of Metallica apologist.

The Black Album was good...lots of good stuff on there...a few pieces of filler, but all and all, a solid effort...

Load and ReLoad get a bad rap in my eyes...both solid entries...not on the level of the earlier stuff but still good...

St. Anger...yeah, that sucks.

Death Magentic is great...Puppets or Justice would be the only albums I'd rather listen to.

I completely agree with this. Personally, Death Magnetic was one of my favorites from the band. This new EP that was just put out, though, definitely should have been kept locked away.

Metallica has been my favorite band for as long as I can remember. I'm the type of asshole who gets excited to go see Blackened when they play around town.

I thought what they did with the last tour was pretty cool...go to the show and your ticket gets you a recording of the concert, dumped straight from their mixer...was pretty cool to have an excellent quality copy of the show I went to.

I agree with most of this. I wasn't a big fan of the Load/Reload shit, but that's just me. For me, Metallica pretty much ended after the Black Album, I'll listen to Death Magnetic here and there, but would prefer anything from the Black Album and before.

some of the Load/ReLoad stuff is o.k.
I hate the Black Album....I know there are plenty of good songs on there. On Thru the Never is badass.
St. Anger has interesting riffs, but the lyrics are bad and the production is awful.
I haven't spent much time with Death Magnetic. I probably listened to it twice.
But, I'm a first four albums (and e.p.) guy.

lamb of god just released "resolution"
go pick that up...
