I actually heard a Vampire Weekend song that wasn't too bad. It sounded a lot like fIREHOSE. But it was hard for me to be objective since I knew it was Vampire Weekend.

It won't be as good as Black Keys in a place that seats 25k+ for concerts, but then again, not much is.

Future Pool 1 for the Derby. Could you post the odds, Spanky?

Godspeed! and Liturgy are the only bands i'm even remotely interested in
I think Hot Chip could be fun...but not sandwiched in between all that other crap
hopefully there are some winners and the next round of announcements because the fest itself in terms of size, location, amenities, etc. is not too bad

The festival looks ok so far mainly because it's the first time in at least 3 years that Animal Collective won't be fouling up the whole damn thing with their noise.

Godspeed! is definitely on my list of good. Hot Chip is great in concert, they are on it too.

I'm not exactly excited for that show. My wife and a couple friends really wanted to go, so I have no problem with tagging along. I've seen Black Keys multiple times at The Metro, and the Aragon, so im sure I will leave disappointing compared to the previous times I've seen them. I'm probably more interested in seeing the Arctic Monkeys since they don't make it to the states very often, and I think the new Black Keys album was very disappointing.

And using that show to defend a shitty lineup you will sit multiple days through doesn't make any sense. Have fun drinking PBR and smoking American Spirits.

I just don't "get" them. Just seems like noise to me.

Panda Bear just about caused me gouge my eyes and ears out 2 years ago.

Only artist I am familiar with is Feist who I generally enjoy but never seen live. You either like
her or hate her guts is the feeling I get. Never been to this festival, I am definitely not hipster
enough to know what is going on there.

You should check it out. Pitchfork is even within walking distance to the Third Rail Tavern. You could take another shot at the bartender. :P

 I usually only allow myself to get shot down once. I have to dig my heels in and draw a
line in the sand somewhere.

Some of us managed to avoid The Twiglight hoopla and bands that were formed as a result of it.

Vampire Weekend was formed as a tribute to the Twiglight movies.

I read that wrong. I thought you said never heard OF vampire weekend. I have no idea if I have heard their music or not, but I know they are a band.

I hate Vampire Weekend because of that.
Coincidentally, I hate Ra-Ra Riot because they are Vancouver Canucks fans.

Really? I thought it was formed as a self-aware look at the privilege and pretension of the East Coast upperclass juxtaposed against a pastiche of watered down homages to third world cultures.
