I want to put together a playlist, give me suggestions. So far I've got:

1. Disco Inferno, The Trammps (used to love that Union 76 commercial)
2. Stayin Alive, Bee Gees

Actually that's not true. The Bee Gees were around well before disco began. Most of their more popular songs are the disco songs, but they had some success in the 60s and early 70s before that. #FunFacts

Disco is deceptively cool. Hate not.

A couple that come to mind for me:

Silver Convention - "Fly Robin Fly"
Chic - "Good Times"
MFSB - "Love Is the Message"
Whispers - "And the Beat Goes On"
Jimmy Ross - "First True Love Affair"
Taana Gardner - "Heartbeat"
MFSB - "The Sound of Philadelphia"
The Philadelphia Society - "100 South of Broadway"
Fat Larry's Band - "Act Like You Know"
Shannon - "Let the Music Play" (the link between disco and '90s dance)

I'm Caught Up In A One Night Love Affair
Bee Gees - Nights on Broadway
A little Pakistani disco for you, but good stuff: Nazia Hassan - Disco Deewane
Runaway - Salsoul Orchestra (there's a more current version by La India and Nuyorican Soul)

When 103.5 went Disco/Funk for like a year around 2000-01 it was the best station in Chicago

"Miss You" by the Stones is, regardless of what anyone says, a disco chart ... this is even more readily apparent in the eight-minute (or so) extended cut.

Loleatta Holloway - Love Sensation, Hit & Run, Runaway
Donna Summer - I Feel Love
Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes - The Love I Lost, Bad Luck
MFSB - TSOP
Billy Paul - Only the Strong Survive
Frankie Knuckles/Jaime Principle - Your Love, Waiting on My Angel, Bad Boy, Music is the Key, etc.
Thelma Houston - Don't Leave Me This Way
Jesse Saunders - On and On

....I could go on all day w/House music :dj:

& Don is right, "Miss You" got a lot of play in the old Warehouse, Power Plant and Muzik Box

I think the two Donna Summers songs mentioned, "I Feel Love" and "Love to Love You Baby" are great proto-House songs. Also, would the Gap Band be considered Disco? if so, "Party Train" and "You Dropped the Bomb on Me."

Good songs, but not disco. More like Funk, but not to the PFunk level of Bootsy Collins/Parliment/George Clinton

Yeah, I remember that too! Jammin' Oldies was a good format, but for some reason it had no staying power. Apparently there's only so much KC and the Sunshine Band a station can be made to play before no one cares anymore. Those stations lived and died like mayflies all around the country.

Do you remember when WNIB would do R&B overnights? I'd hear some of that once in a very blue moon on Saturday nights when I was little, because my dad would listen to Those Were The Days in the afternoon.

I wish radio still sounded like this sometimes. Not all the time, mind you, but there's such an unpolished charm to it, like it's one guy alone at the station doing everything himself. Listen to how clunky that cough button is, good lord.
