Outkast's Andre 3000 has been snapped in his Jimi Hendrix consume as he films a forthcoming biopic about the late guitarist.

Entertainmentwise managed to catch a glimpse of the rapper in Dublin where the film is being shot, as he appeared from his dressing room with a full Hendrix-style afro.

The film titled "All Is By My Side" pushed ahead with production before getting permission from the Hendrix estate to use his music. The movie centers around the recording of the classic 1967 album "Are You Experienced?"

"[We] have not ruled out a 'biopic' in the future though producing partners would, out of necessity, have to involve the company from the inception of any such film project if it is to include original Jimi Hendrix music or compositions," said the estate upon news of the film.

It is unclear whether a deal has been reached with the Hendrix estate, but the production company could be skipping out on those royalty fees by recording its own soundtrack.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, Chickenfoot drummer Kenny Aronoff took part in an "intense" two day Hendrix recording session for the film score. Could they be cutting the Hendrix family out of any royalties?

Andre 3000 has previously appeared in movies including "Be Cool", "Four Brothers" and "Semi-Pro".

Hollywood has been trying to make this movie with 3000 as Hendrix for no joke 10 years... One horrible thing tho, and idk if it was mentioned in that fluff story, is the hendrix estate will not let the filmmakers use any Jimi music... so lame.

Music as in actual Jimi Hendrix recordings, or any material in general? Walk the Line turned out pretty damn good with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon taking care of the vox. Andre 3000 strikes me as talented enough to do a passable Hendrix impression.

I believe they will have to re-record all the tracks they plan on using.

They won't give them the music for a movie, but they sold Voodoo Chile to Hogan?

I remember Mongo saying Hulk paid the estate $500,000 a year for the rights. Wonder why he's doing Rent A Center commercials. :D

I think you have to own the publishing in order to do that without permission. It's the same as an artist covering a song, you still have to get permission. No different with what Weird Al does....He has to get permission from the owner of the publishing rights.

Doubly stupid because he only worked like 4 PPVs a year and appeared in roughly 2 Nitros per month.
