Anybody getting this tomorrow? The few tracks I have heard sound pretty good. Also coming out tomorrow is Chicago's very own Chief Keef's debut album. |

For those who haven't gotten this, you're missing out. This is probably rap album of the year. |

Coincidentally, if I had to choose my favorite rap group or rappers, Aesop Rock and Atmosphere would be at the top. go listen to some pharoahe monch. he has an album called "internal affairs" that's worth your time. i did a victory 360 when i stumbled across the vinyl for that one; he's eminently superior to both aesop rock and/or atmosphere.... maybe he's your great black hope for hiphop? (don't worry, i know you won't listen =) |

Pharoh is a legend. I think you'll probably like him. Is that your favorite gimmick/concept rap song Sini ? Gza does one on every album. hit or miss. I love Labels, the rest are just ok. |

Is that your favorite gimmick/concept rap song Sini ? wow.... favorite gimmick/concept rap song? i've gotta think on this one.... i mean in terms of just pharoahe and gimmick raps you can't go wrong with part 1 of his bullet trilogy (yes, he has three songs where he's a bullet/gun/etc) "stray bullet" - by the time you get to "you betta pray to the pope or vatican before i go rat-tat-tat-tat-again" you're pretty thoroughly entertained, that is, unless you're margaret's face. does last emperor - secret wars (which you figure would be up loho's alley) count? i can't vouch for part 2 as much, but "growing up" part 1 was always fun. louis logic's "the ugly truth" has a nice reveal at the end of it. i think it can be counted as a gimmick song. you know what? the blackalicious - alphabet aerobics (cut chemist 2 1/2 minute workout) wins the title. it's the one where he does the alphabet from a to z on top of a flagrantly cut chemist beat (you know, the guy who did a ton of jurassic 5 production) that increases in speed as time goes on. hrmmm.... latyrx' self titled song thats the first one off of their self-titled LP (i think the song's self-titled too) where they start off with each guy having a verse going simultaneously in the R/L speakers is a fun. it gets an honorable mention... so to answer your question succinctly, it's the blackalicious one. it's caused many a random pedestrian to look at me funny when i just randomly belt out "UNIVERSAL UNIQUE UNTOUCHED UNADULTERATED THE RAW UNCUT!" on pubtrans or something. |

for the record, my proclivity to belt out random lines of rap dialogue on pubtrans is completely teabagged by the air guitar displays i've put on when listening to squarepusher's deep fried pizza. just to keep it racially cool in here =D |
