Since metal is the subject of this thread, anybody familiar with Black Label Society? Zakk Wylde* started the band after he had released two solo albums in '94 and '96** . The first release was 1998's Sonic Brew, and to this day it has remained my favorite metal album (and probably places in my overall top-10 albums if I sat down and made a list). Sadly, the debut album was also their musical peak, but it would've been hard to top it anyway. The follow-up (Stronger than Death) was pretty good, but everything else after it took a severe hit in quality, partly due to fun-bad vocals from Zakk (he tries, and fails horrendously to sound like Ozzy), mind-numbing lyrics, and completely uninspired, repetitive music. Anyway, if you haven't already, Sonic Brew is a must-listen. *Ozzy's guitarist on No Rest for the Wicked, No More Tears, Ozzmosis, and the regrettable Down to Earth. **Pride & Glory and Book of Shadows. But once again, I sincerely apologize to all of our fans in Australia who spent their money expecting to see the three of us original Slayer members." His replacement will be Jon Dette, who played with the band several times as Lombardo took time away from the band between 1992 and 2002. The band haven't said if Lombardo's exit is a permanent one.
