Added a new one tonight. Well, it's old but it's new to some of you. It was a custom job, had to create a piece of "On-Hold" music, had to be precisely 90 seconds long, had to be something that could loop and not be turrible at it. Ended up selling this a couple times to clients back in my Avaya days. Thought I'd share it because I have nothing better to do right now. Check it out if you want. |

I'm disappointed in all of you. Thorogood's version over the great John Lee Hooker?!? |

Okay, here's my George Thorogood story. One of my friends worked at House of Blues. I'm not sure what her job title was, but the bottom line is she was sort of like a concierge for the "talent". She had to put together their riders, get their food, their booze, etc. HOB is a place that is played by bands on their way up, but far more often, bands on their way down. The balls on some of these people. They would ask for shit in their riders as if they were the Beatles filling up Wembley Stadium. They wouldn't always get exactly what they asked for. Sometimes my friend or one of her associates would simply strike out certain provisions in a contract. You want six bottles of Rebel Yell? We've got Maker's Mark and you can have a couple fifths. Or go fuck yourself. So, about ten years ago, Thorogood was playing there. He wanted a chicken dinner. It was important to him that the chicken was disjointed. My friend brought him his chicken and he just sat there staring at it with steam coming out of his ears. Finally, he blew up and started caterwauling about how the pieces were touching each other. My friend took the chicken and put enough distance between the wing and the breast to satisfy this lunatic. When she brought the chicken back to him, Thorogood noticed that she was wearing a Ramones t-shirt and he flipped his lid again. "A RAMONES T-SHIRT???!!!!! NOBODY WEAR A RAMONES T-SHIRT AT A GEORGE THOROGOOD CONCERT!!!!!" He hollered for one of his flunkies to get my friend a George Thorogood t-shirt to put on. Well, at this point she was pissed. She wasn't putting on his shitty t-shirt. She told him flat out she wasn't putting on his t-shirt and if he was so adamant about not wanting to see the Ramones shirt, she would just put on an HOB shirt. Or go fuck yourself. |

If I never hear another George Thorogood song again in my life, I'd be fine w/ that. |

One of my college roommates played Thorogood all the time. Another would play Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" every night when he came home from studying at the library. A third was a big Wham fan. Great guys with shit taste in music. |
