I know this is a bit early to be mentioning this but quite a few that post here attend, so here is a thread to mention bands playing or possible meetups this summer in Milwaukee for The Big Gig. So far I am personally disappointed at the headliners named but there are always a lot of good acts on the side stages so not really worried yet. So far they include: - Jason Aldean w Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett - New Kids on the Block w 98 Degrees and Boyz II Men - Rush ( on July 4th ) - Tim McGraw w Brantley Gilbert and Love & Theft |

The 98, News Kids, BoyzII...COME ON! Do that show at 5 PM at the Allstate Arena for the 40 year old Moms! Rush? Are they all alive? |

Woah, like bigfan posted, a lot of bad fake country. The talent will be out for those acts though... |

They have Country Thunder, Country USA and a number of other festivals in Wisconsin for that kind of music. I just hope they can pull a few decent acts to fill out the main ampitheater. So far it is pretty pathetic. |

Keeping Score wrote: Maybe they should just do away with all the rock acts as well since there's RockFest in Cadott every year. False logic. Country is not close to the same level as Rock. So take your bootscootin elsewhere! |

Yes, and it should stay at Country USA. |

I am sorry a Music Festival can't have all types of music, when did this become law? Perhaps I missed it. |

That festival has one type of music. Shit. That is as bad of a lineup as I have seen. Who the hell would want to see 98 degrees? The shit sandwich lineup was so overpowering that I missed Rush. I don't really like them but I respect them unlike the rest of the lineup. |

Just thought it was kind of funny that a music festival had to limit what kind of music they can have. |

Just thought it was kind of funny that a music festival had to limit what kind of music they can have. I guess that is the demographic they are shooting for. I try my best not to shit on other types of music I am not a particular fan of. I just was surprised that two of the headliners were country. Wisconsin has a number of very large country festivals. If that is what sells tickets than more power to them, I should not really be surprised because I know they have had country acts on the main stage the last few years. Maybe my expectations are out of whack for that particular festival. |

It is 1 of the demographics, the festival goes what 12 days, and they are going to have 2 country acts. I don't think that is to much of 1 genre of music. There are countless other stages, I think to much is made of the main act, most of the time the music I like is at one of the many other stages anyway. |

....and since they aren't really country but more shitty adult contemporary then there are plenty of openings for some country. Get some Willie, Hank III and Dale Watson and that place will rock the fuck out. |

I think overall they have usually done a very good job of finding musical acts that fit all types and by the time they are done this year I feel they will achieve this goal again. |

I seem to recall the Summerfest folks changing the overall theme every few years. The late mid-late 90s had a lot of metal acts. Mid 2000s were jammy-funk rock-alternative stuff. The past few years have been a little more of a hip-hop vibe. Apparently it is Country music time. |

They should be catering to everybody. |

There could very well be a concerted effort going on in that regard. The violence at the State Fair caused all kinds of rash decisions. What does that mean? Are you implying country fans are less criminal than hip hop fans? |
