For you music lovers out there I have come across a couple of great shows featuring live music.

Austin City Limits -- I can't ever remember this program on PBS being discussed before. I kind of stumbled upon it
a while back and then eventually decided to start DVRing it. Boy was I happy that I did. Essentially they get mostly
current artists to come in and do about a 90 minute set for an audience of roughly 2500 people in which they tape
and then whittle down to about 55 minutes and air nonstop on PBS. Bands that have been on the show this season
include, Spoon, Jimmy Cliff, Radiohead, The Shins, Coldplay, Alabama Shakes, Florence and the Machine, John Legend
and The Roots, and Bon Iver just to name a few. Others lined up for future shows include The Lumineers and Phoenix.
Anyway I highly recommend it.

Later with Jools Holland -- This is like a variety type show hosted by Jools Holland in London. Each week he has
5 or 6 bands come in to play music on a big sound stage. Each band takes a turn playing at least one and up to
2 or 3 songs during the hour depending on their stature in the music world. He gets a lot of big names and I have
been introduced to a few really interesting acts I had never heard before. The Europeans have a little diffferent
taste in some of their music. This one airs on Palladia so not sure whether everyone gets that one or not but overall
it is a pretty solid music channel playing a lot of rockumentaries and concerts.

There was an article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about it yesterday which brought it to mind.
Apparently it didn't always attract some of the more popular artists so they have done a good job
of making it a bit more relevant to a younger audience.

Austin City Limits usually is a good watch/listen. Though the party I attended chastised me when I requested they leave the Spoon episode on. Jerks don't like Spoon.

Palladia and AXStv have a bunch of good stuff. Rebroadcasts of live concerts (mostly festivals) on Sundays.

Ya know, one show that is actually quite fucking good is "Live From Daryl's House."
Just find it one night and watch for a 1-15 minutes. :thumright:

His band makes that whole show. Those dudes are some great fucking musicians. Lead guitarist and drummer most notably.

I have seen Daryl's house and agree it is pretty good. As for not knowing about the other shows
that have been on forever... oh well. Better late than never.

I don't think I have ever seen a good concert on AXStv. Palladia is VERY hit or miss, and extremely repeat-ey.

I've seen some good stuff. They tend to show a lot of festivals so while you might not like the entire 2 hours, there are acts in there that are pretty good.

Daryl's House is a cool show.

Jane's Addiction as we speak. I am vomiting in my mouth with nostalgia. Saw them as a senior in HS at the Thirsty Whale. Those were the days...

He sucks, and I hate how he always tries to insert himself into every performance.

the thing about AXS is the music is always off from the performance. The audio is off. Usually by about half a second. It annoys me as i like to watch the musicians work in real time...

Banner episode of Jools Holland on as we speak. If anyone can follow fucking Metallica it's Carla Bruni (formerly Sarkozy) singing a French folk song.
