I've only been to a few, and even then they probably weren't the best ones to go to, but I've never said how awesome it was. It was fun but lots of things are fun.

1) Overpriced
2) Too loud(earplugs help)
3) Not worth the cost or completely overpriced
4) Lots of standing around and waiting
5) A lot of acts aren't that good live. Others are too high or drunk on stage to be good.

You sound like Grandpa Simpson.

Dear Live Nation,
There are two many festivals, please eliminate three...
I'm old...and there are wolves after me.

Wow, did you have your dentures in for that post, gramps?

Yes, there are certain annoyances you go through, but when you see acts that are good live its well worth it.

Maybe you shouldnt judge the whole experience on the Nelly show you went to

Are you a fan of music or have you just gone to shitty shows?

It's just like anything else. Some suck. Some are great. If you think they all suck, you probably aren't a fan of live music.

The only shows that are overpriced are arena shows. Not counting NYE shows, I don't think I've ever dropped more than $50 on a ticket, and I know for certain that I've never spent more than $100 when factoring in NYE. There's plenty of great stuff out there that a person can see in the $10-$20 range on any given night. New York probably has a great music scene.

Stop going to Creed shows. Your opinion of concerts will change.

I think they kind of suck. As in, it can be fun but also it's a lot of hassle. In just reading some of the stuff about the Pearl Jam concert it just sounds like while the act was good, that the total experience would have been annoying.

Not to derail my own thread, but shouldn't that be "aren't a fan of music"?

I'm sure you're a huge fan of recorded music and televised football. Saying you're simply a "huge music fan" would be far too broad a statement in your case since you've already explained that live music "sucks".

Lots of stuff that is worthwhile is a "hassle". If it weren't, nobody would ever have a baby.

I was lucky to avoid that. Don't know if my resume is much better though.

Goo Goo Dolls(good)/Counting Crows(terrible, we left early)
Nelly(ok, but too quick)
Maroon 5(cool, but mainly because it was in Madison Square Garden)
Hoobastank(right before they became popular, it was alright but mostly because I could walk back to my dorm in 5 minutes)
Wayne Newton

I've honestly had just as much fun at piano bars as any of those.

That's the greatest concert resume in history.

Oh my god.

I dont even know if you're serious with that list.

If you are, I see where you got the idea that concerts suck.

Try a good band/performer

I don't think live music sucks. I enjoy bands at bars, and even Broadway shows/concerts(Million Dollar Quartet). I enjoy the actual music at concerts too. It's all the other stuff that you have to go through to get to that point.

I think I'm missing a few, but that list is legit. I guess I'm going to see Toby Keith this summer too.

You'll be in business when Tributo becomes a piano bar.

Seriously, Im not a music snob by any means, but those bands are not....what you should judge live music by.

I can tell you that the Counting Crows are tied with Sheryl Crow* for the worst acts Ive ever seen live.

Find a band that is known for great live shows....U2, Phish, McCartney or smaller bands for even better value

*No, I didnt go to a Sheryl Crow show. She was at Q101 Twisted

You could say the exact same thing about New York City and be accurate.

Wayne Newton

It's not really the actual act I have a problem with. Besides Counting Crows, they all put on pretty good shows.

I'd say other choices on my list are worse than that. In Vegas, seeing Wayne Newtown is a worthwhile experience.

I think once you see a GREAT show, you will see why the annoyances are well worth it (and provide some of the best stories)

Maybe Toby Keith will show me. It would help if I liked country music though.

Who should I go see?

I wouldn't consider Wayne Newton or Celine Dion a true "concert" though. Its more of a Vegas show than anything. I don't doubt its worth it to see ol' Wayne if you are in Vegas.
