Rush is one of those bands that get overrated by nerds who are fanatical towards groups like Dream Theater and other prog rock/metal. You know those fans who tell you how great Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy are at drums because their kits are massive and they do a bunch of time signatures while hitting shit that isn't even really necessary to the song so you make a fake Youtube account and go on all their videos posting shit about how Nickelback is better just to get a reaction out of them? Yea, those fans.

That being said, they don't suck.

The Kufi makes him look a little less like W.C. Fields. The Macallan has the opposite effect.

Not really. His greatest strength as a drummer is his compositional skills. He's not just hitting random splashes and chinas for the sake of hitting them.

Never understood the "massive kit" complaint either. It's really no different than a guitarist who swaps out guitars or has a massive effects rack.

Rush's true greatness from all its members can be heard about halfway through the song Freewill. There's a 30 to 45 second jam where all three go off. Especially Alex Lifeson who may be the most under rated guitarist in Rock.
