stumbled across this video of one of my favorite Primus tunes... can anyone name the riff at the beginning? Hint: Think Great White North. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ato_YTBQpu4 |

That would be Rush's YYZ. This was the song that set up the drum solo for Neil Peart on Exit Stage Left. |

DING DING. We have a winner. The song first appeared on Moving Pictures, but the drum solo was really made popular by Exit Stage Left, which was the first Rush album I ever owned. |

And speaking of simply awesome covers... no one does Pink Floyd better than Les... and maybe Pink Floyd with Mr. Waters. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP8qhN37J60 |

Miscellaneous Debris... Not sure if you ever got into Les' band Sausage, but their disc is a must have. 1995ish. |

Have a Cigar was awesome on that lil' compilation of covers. Loved that XTC cover of Making Plans for Nigel too! In my youtube wanderings, I came across a very young Les Claypool playing a couple songs off of Sailing the Seas of Cheese. Its not linked perfectly but still pretty cool to see he's got the same mannerisms even way back then. Surprised to see him in a Grateful Dead shirt! I did notice that his bass has only 4 strings and full frets... wonder when he switched. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyTBVkVyFPc |
