Yeah, okay, James Murphy produced it, so it's LCD Soundsystem but with Win Butler whimpering. I like LCD Soundsystem, but I don't want everyone to sound like them. This band sure fell off hard.

If CH didn't like it, I'm pretty sure I will!

Man, the more I hear this song, the less I like it. It's just so boring, so interminable. I liked the Arcade Fire better when they just went balls to the wall with painful earnestness. Of all the bands to go in for the whole James Murphy self-aware bullshit thing, ugh.

Oh, no, I like James Murphy's music. I just find his act tiresome at times.

I too find this a giant snooze. I guess this band is going to alternate between albums of overdramatic bullshit and albums of boring pop songs, and are currently on the latter. I could probably go without hearing anything from their catalog ever again save Haiti, Sprawl II, and Neighborhood 1.

They were on Saturday Night Live last weekend. While I don't enjoy this style of music from them as much as
the previous 3 albums I am not going to completely pan it without listening to the album first. I don't often
agree with the songs that record companies put on the radio as opposed to what is hidden on the actual
album.

I remember you were not a fan of The Suburbs, but liked it more with multiple listenings (which is what happened with me, too). I'm interested to see the direction of the album, because at the very least, it doesn't seem like it will be the same album all over again.

Zeph-what was wrong with Neon Bible?

Boyd, you are right. I initially panned The Suburbs and it taught me a bit of a lesson about jumping to conclusions
after one listen. I don't hate Reflektor, it is definitely different but better than a lot of other garbage I hear when
actually tuning into FM radio.

I just thought it was really bland and forgettable. I don't find it as bad as a lot of The Suburbs, but it doesn't really stand out for me in any positive manner either. I was actually really looking forward to it when it came out too because I liked the KEXP version of Intervention, but that song ended up being lamer on the album.

I'm another person who didn't like The Suburbs. The opener/title track sounds like a really half-assed Wilco song before giving way to yet more Win Butler lyrics about "the kids." "Modern Man" has a nice little compound meter that keeps things interesting. Everything else is utterly forgettable or memorably bad, like "Rococo," which is even MORE kids lyrics! "Sprawl II" is terrific, but I guess it gave the band the idea to go electronic.

Half of Neon Bible is amazing, the other half sucks. The good half is the stuff where they're going all out, like "Intervention," or "No Cars Go," or "Ocean of Noise," or "My Body Is a Cage." But then you get some shit like "Antichrist Television Blues" where it just goes on forever and nothing happens.

I love and treasure Funeral.

I tried to listen to the rest of the new album, but Closed The Fucking Winamp by the fourth track. This is trouble.

Yeah.

I'm not feeling the new album either.

I was going to try to find this online and listen after the album I have going right now. Almost forgot this
dropped recently. I read some reviews on it and they were generally kind to it.

The single was so awful that I can't muster the courage to give the full album a listen. CH's reaction isn't helping. Give me anthemic moments, Funeral-style!

Definitely a different vibe and sound to this album. There were a handful of songs that I
didn't think were horrible. I miss the fact that they replaced the strings with synthesizers
and stuff. A lot of groups are trending to that 80s type sound lately it seems. Needless to
say,I don't think I will bother purchasing the disc.

Joe Orr would approve;
Quote:
The band had previously asked fans to don fancy dress for their string of intimate shows around the release of their new album 'Reflektor' but have also done the same for their bigger tour next year.

"Please wear formal attire or costume" a line on the Ticketmaster website reads.
