Suprisingly very very good.

I like the single their albums are solid but they usually lag a little to long, maybe the best singles band of the '00's.

This one clocks in at a relatively slim 47 minutes, so it's definitely not as overblown as previous efforts.

I'll say this-I was a HUGE fan in the S.C.I.E.N.C.E./Enjoy Incubus era, and they definitely lost me through the last 2.5 albums, and Brandon Boyd's refusal to keep his shirt on and himself off the cover of YM certainly didn't help things. But as I've aged, I've actually started to come around. It took me 5 years, but I'm finally able to give Morning View its due respect.

i will never give morning view any respect.....half of make yourself, while good, was borderline...

I'll agree with you on that front, Doug. I always felt that album was their weakest, even though it was the one that broke them. Lyrically, most of the album is insipid, and when it isn't, the hook or a great chorus was missing. The only "complete" song on that disc is "Clean".

I'll concede that Morning View has more than its fair share of softer songs which is what originally had me down on the album for so long. But after re-listening to it, especially compared with Make Yourself, the band improved in every capacity, specifically the two fronts I mentioned above. While the album is still uneven and overblown, I'm now able to enjoy a majority of the songs on the disc much moreso than I previously did.
