Quote: The Official 2014 Riot Fest & Expo Lineup City and Colour, Metric, The National, Billy Talent, Rise Against, The Flaming Lips, Social Distortion, Death Cab for Cutie, Death From Above 1979, Brand New, Paul Weller, AWOLNATION, Stars, The Head and the Heart, Dropkick Murphys, Die Antwoord, Tokyo Police Club, The New Pornographers, Bring Me the Horizon, Taking Back Sunday, The Afghan Whigs, Alkaline Trio, Glassjaw, Bob Mould, Thurston Moore, Buzzcocks, Clutch, New Found Glory, Circa Survive, Manchester Orchestra, Lucero, Title Fight, Bad Suns, Citizen, Lemuria, Mounties, PUP, Nostalghia, Radkey, Rubblebucket, Pentimento, Broncho, The Hotelier, Laura Stevenson, The Beaches, Somos, Restorations, Say Yes, Seaway, Wounds, Little Big League, & More to be announced... this is Toronto, but I would wager the Chicago lineup will be 75% the same and nothing says punk quite like The National |

die antwoord? i think aphex twin is either producing a track or their EP/LP/whatever. at least that's what the aphex fiends over at WATMM say when they're not basking in the glory of their weird kickstarter campaign to get ~$12-20k together to get some ultra rare super mega secret 5-test-pressings-only unreleased aphex twin album from ~1992-93. i swear someday they're gonna figure out that aphex twin runs that board and realize they've prolly had tens to hundreds of casual conversations with their musical hero, or well.... maybe not. and then i'd maybe also realize my favorite damn musician banned me from his own damn messageboard, but well i pretty much was a raging Caller Bob. i give you all of this necessary thought because i was thinking about how i'd maybe pay the $$$ to go to this if there was a small chance that aphex would show up as a guest for the die antwoord set. but i think it takes no less than $25k to get aphexian ass to pop the pond over to this country, so i really doubt that's a go. and then i'd be stuck going to this festival with...... bands, i presume, and end up seeing die antwoord. and i don't wanna see die antwoord. do you? does anybody? "anti-illuminati" artists my fucking ass. this is why i have to get really good at rap someday (which is all tied into losing 75lbs) --- cuz holy shit if i truly gave a shit i could show these die antwoord clowns a thing or 10 and then maybe i could end up with real production like this antwoord/aphex thing, or that one time clouddead played a festival in scotland and two nondescript dudes came up to them backstage like "hey we're boards of canada! we love your work.... can we do a proper remix of one of your songs?" ah well c'est la vie. my bad about the potential self-aggrandizement. i'll go flog myself with the perpetual reminder that i suck for ~20mins to balance that out =D |

Couple of bands in there I wouldn't mind seeing but depending on the date and cost, probably won't make this one. Doesn't really seem like there is a theme, just a mix of all kinds of music. |

Weller/Whigs/New Pornographers on the same day would be sweet. Clutch, Lucero and Mould I'm down for as well. |

I swore that I would never go to Riot Fest again after last year - just not well run, set up, etc. If the lineup is similar to this plus a few more bands I like mixed in, that's gonna be a hard promise to keep. |

NIU @ UNLV the same weekend as Riot Fest in Chicago. I guess I'll keep that promise after all. Anyway - to anybody that's thinking of going, I hope they make drastic improvements to the fest this year. |

They release things in stages: lineup, different 2 and 3 day packages, schedule, single day tickets, VIP tickets etc. I would recommend following Riot Fest on twitter. Very amusing. |

The 10th anniversary Chicago edition of Riot Fest is having a pretty good week. First they announced a line-up that proved major festivals don't have to book the exact same bands every other major festival is booking that season. Then, Riot Fest founder Michael Petryshyn talked with us about how the fest got to where it is today and their philosophy. And now they've announced that ten of the bands playing the fest will be performing ten of their "classic" albums. That sound you hear? It's music nerds across America (and probably overseas) squealing with delight. The nine bands bands announced so far and the albums they will be performing are: Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album) Slayer - Reign in Blood Jane's Addiction - Nothing's Shocking Samhain - Initium Offspring - Smash NOFX - Punk in Drublic Descendents - Milo Goes to College Naked Raygun - Throb Throb Get Up Kids - Something to Write Home About http://chicagoist.com/2014/05/15/ten_bands_performing_full_classic_a.php |

They've done it (Enter the Wu Tang) a lot lately at fests there are 10 bands doing 10 classic albums but they only announced 9 of them, so there is still 1 more to be announced |
