Billy is posting almost daily on the "new" smashing pumpkins website. He took down their official page and message board on March 31st. The updates are about him and Jeff (guitar) and their studio team working on songs for a 2015 release of two full albums. I like the studio updates, but the website is for shit.

http://www.smashingpumpkinsnexus.com/

Recently, Billy went to L.A. for a "secret mission" which basically turned into him convincing Tommy Lee to play drums for one of the albums.
I'm interested...Tommy Lee played drums on NIN's the downward spiral, so I am a bit intrigued to hear their music with a heavy hitter (like Dave Grohl).

What does this mean for Mike Byrne? Well, I guess he's no longer the drummer...
This from Nicole's Facebook Page (bass...but for how long?)

Coley Toohey-Tino
Yesterday
My fave drummer Mike Byrne who I worked with for 3 1/2 in SP is now available for gigs! ALL my musician friends need to know about him. Freaky genius of a drummer. Please let me know if you hear of anything awesome for him!

Mike has been playing with his buddies from h.s. and their band Bearcubbin' for a while now. They just released a new album as well and have been playing shows around the Portland area (where he is from). Strange that he was dismissed without any official announcement. I guess the announcement is "Tommy Lee is playing drums..."

Did Byrne finally realize he's way too young to waste his talents on Billy's ever confusing whims? Or did he get Kliph Scurlock'ed?
I'll definitely check out new "Smashing Pumpkins" with Lee, but I think Billy has officially lost his mind.
:(

I've always found Billy's insistence on a female bass player to be a weird affectation. I could understand it if he were bagging them, but he usually seems to barely tolerate these broads. It's definitely not standard wifecore where a guy sticks whatever incompetent tattooed floozy he's boning on bass because he can't bear to go on the road without her. Hello, Kim Gordon! I guess he's going for a certain look. I got no problem with that. A look can go a long way.

He was definitely the goods.

The female bass thing is strange, like Billy thinks he needs to keep the original mold in place. Do they all have to blonde, as well? At least Melissa Auf Der Maur didn't turn to the crack pipe after all was said and done.

Poor D'Arcy.

D'arcy has been the only blonde. The others have all had dark hair. Pretty sure D'arcy was a bottle blonde anyway.

The Panopticon ? Looks like a geocities Smashing Pumpkins fan-site circa 1998.

I read somewhere that William prefers female bass players because they tend to not play as loudly ( forcefully?) and that lets the rest of the music be heard better.

Yeah, that fucker is using the same model.

Playing bass in a man's band is the opposite of feminism. I once wrote a piece for a zine about wifecore. Yeah, I invented that word. It pisses so-called feminists off. But if you're really a fucking feminist, start your own fucking band rather than playing bass in your boyfriend's.

Black Francis should just go ahead and fire himself from life.

You figure he would've changed his name to White Francis by now if he wanted to be a success.

I was watching WGN Morning News weeks ago and they were doing an interview with Corgan at Ravinia. I think it was the weekend he did his show there. Anyway, they had Ana Belaval interviewing him for her "Around Town" segment, and it was weirdest interview ever. When the segment mercifully came to an end, she went to commercial by saying "More awkward tension from Billy Corgan coming up later".

Just the first 30 seconds of that interview was strange, Marshall totally came around, knew everything about Brent and gave Herbie some love...but that 1st 30 seconds he was acting like "WTF am I doing here?"

This is a lead single as good as anything from the glory days, but man, I gotta tell ya, if you told me a band just released an album called Monuments to an Elegy and told me to guess whose it was, the only two guesses I could give would be the Smashing Pumpkins and Dream Theater.

Like the song except for the sections with cheezmo drum sounds.
