I've tried to "get" James Blake, and I just don't.

it doesn't appear to be anything "crazy", other than maybe the description of how the avocado is supposed to be cut

Last night, Jack White performed at Madison Square Garden, and during the show, he was joined by an unexpected special guest. Q-Tip joined White to perform the Lazaretto track “That Black Bat Licorice” and A Tribe Called Quest’s “Excursions”.
The show was opened by Run the Jewels, who brought out Rage Against the Machine's Zack de la Rocha for "Close Your Eyes (and Count to Fuck)". It's not the first time Run the Jewels have performed with Zack de la Rocha—the Rage frontman joined them at a show in Los Angeles last year. Watch both performances below via Stereogum.

This would have been no big deal if the booking agency didn't make it a big deal.
The paper would have been really disappointed of thy didn't get the reaction. So I guess maybe they got what they wanted?

$80k doesn't seem crazy to me either.
