The one that comes to me automatically without going through it song by song in my head is "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols." Then maybe Clash - "Give em Enough Rope," Misfits - "Legacy of Brutality." A lot of Punk albums are conducive to listening straight through. First Black Sabbath maybe. No Beatles or Zeppelin. Only "Beggars" and "Let It Bleed" from the Stones.

It's bite sized helpings and that's partially due to the method of delivery. With a vinyl you had to sort of listen to the whole thing, a CD was different but still physical media. With streaming and on demand services you can pick and choose whatever you want, artists can also output single songs as well whenever they want.

Yeah, but the method of delivery and the reception of the information has altered the art form radically. An album is a complete work. A CD is a collection of songs. And there is a huge difference. If an artist truly cared about the order of the songs or the way the music is consumed, he could make the CD a single track. But most people like money more than they respect their own artistic vision.

I'm sure you can look around online and find long discussions and arguments about the proper order of the songs on Big Star's Third (Sister Lovers). Disagreement over it may have had something to do with the way the record was released.

I consume pretty much all my music in an album start-to-finish format...I can't even remember the last time I bought a single track or two from iTunes...
