The best stable to come along since....I dont know, but they're pretty fucking good.

Black Hippy is a group of rappers signed by Top Dawg Entertainment (T.D.E.)
Kendrick Lamar
Ab-Soul
Schoolboy Q
Jay Rock

Lot's of news lately

Item 1
Kendrick is the undisputed King of Hip Hop.

Item 2
Schoolboy Q has some enemies

A Colorado shooting involving rapper ScHoolboy Q after a concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre was not a random act of violence, police said Saturday.

"This is not just a coincidence. We think there is probably more to it than that," said Jacki Kelley, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. "It does seem to be more targeted than random."

ScHoolboy Q, whose real name is Quincy Matthew Hanley, was not hurt in the shooting at the historic concert venue about 10 miles west of Denver. Three other people in the vehicle with ScHoolboy Q sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made, but Kelley said investigators have received numerous tips and are trying to determine a motive for the attack in a parking lot at the outdoor space, where the Beatles and Grateful Dead have performed and U2 filmed "Under a Blood Red Sky."

The suspect, described as 6 feet tall and carrying a rifle, escaped after the shooting, Kelley said.

Next Slide
The SUV in which ScHoolboy Q was riding fled east from the venue toward Denver before being stopped by police, Kelley said. All of the SUV's occupants were briefly detained while police checked to make sure it contained only victims.

Investigators were also asking concertgoers to share with them any video recordings made backstage or in the merchandise sales area known as the Trading Post from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

On Friday, ScHoolboy Q said on Twitter that he was OK.

"im str8...... dont trip," he wrote. His next tweet said. "and IM STILL GOING TO ICELAND 2MORROW, & NEW YORK WEDNESDAY."

ScHoolboy Q is from Los Angeles. His most recent album, "Oxymoron," debuted at No. 1 earlier this year and reflects his life as a father and former gang member.

yeah, we need to discuss the Ab-Soul album but i only listened to it once....especially him, the songs are pretty dense...there aren't a lot of 2-3 minute boom-bap type songs , requires a lot of processing

I downloaded it late last night. Ill give it the full listen this weekend. I like the beat to the Action Bronson and Jay Rock songs

There's a couple radio songs but I think the ones in between make it. Pretty good reviews.

Also, it just occured to me that Schoolboy uses an Earl line in Collard Greens

HOT 97′S PETER ROSENBERG SAYS KENDRICK LAMAR’S ALBUM WILL BE “AS GOOD OR BETTER THAN ‘GOOD KID, M.A.A.D CITY’”

November 5, 2014 | 3:28pm ESTFULL SIZE IMAGE

The buzz surrounding the currently untitled sophomore release from Kendrick Lamar is building during K. Dot’s current media run. With his single, “I”, starting to get major recognition and his rumored followup, “KING KUNTA” getting high praise from those who have heard it, Kendrick seems on the path to once again shake up the game. Kendrick Lamar sat down with HOT 97′S PETER ROSENBERG AND EBRO FOR AN INTERVIEW earlier this week and following the talk, K.Dot played some tracks for Rosenberg off-air. Rosenberg shared a YouTube video with his thoughts had high praise for what he heard.“If this album is like anything I heard, we are in for a treat,” said Rosenberg. “Kendrick Lamar has somehow developed even more, he has gone to another level. He is talking about black righteousness. He’s talking about Africa, there’s social commentary, there’s all types of deep thoughts…However, it is upbeat music that will thrive in the club and on radio. But just like good kid, m.A.A.d city there’s no attempt to make club music….”King Kunta” is not like anything you’ve heard from Kendrick before or anything else out there…I heard four songs and the sampling I heard was amazing…This next album will be as good as good kid, m.A.A.d city or even on a different or higher level.”The anticipation grows.[HOT 97]

This album is going to have impossibly high standards

The shooting only happened because he opened the concert with "Red Rocks? Gee, I didn't even know Red was in a rock band."

That's preposterous. It's still a pretty good album, though.

No single. Seemed like a weird build up. He showed a trailer for the alubm in November and it came out today.

I know, I'm being that guy, but Why? had some really good stuff before they fell off. Other than "Sod in the Seed," which I love, Yoni has been off his game with everything after Elephant Eyelash and Alopecia, which are near-perfect and were just about all I listened to in the winter of 2009.

I wouldn't definitively categorize Death Grips or the Odd Future collective as Hip Hop per se, but the music is pretty good, if not the lyrical content.
