I went to the first Bonnaroo in 2002. It was 102 degrees everyday. Everybody's car was covered in a layer of dust.

I thought originally it was primarily a jam band and drugs festival. Not sure what's their vision now.

Every music festival is full of drugs.

I have never been to one of these big shows. There are some bands/people that interest me but
I think the sheer amount of people, lines and bad sound would continue to keep me away.

the majority of the bands on the various fests will play or have played Chicago recently in a club setting, so there's really no point unless there's a "wow" factor like a reunion, rare appearance, etc.

Well that and with my luck I would want to see a band and spanky would be standing in front of me.

Team Cocaine sheds a tear.

Once I wasn't able to score the insanely inexpensive Lolla early-bird wristband, I stopped having an interest.

Although I'm up for Pitchfork and Riot Fest this year, depending on the lineup.

I'd have to see the Lolla lineup. I just think it would be difficult to move from stage to stage to see
everything. The photos make it look like you are a 300 yd drive from the main stages.

Riot fest is too big and too crowded. Don't see myself going to that anymore.

Pitchfork is perfect mid-sized fest

there's no damn cell reception.
the rides are dumb
the layout was idiotic.
putting food carts by the walking path even though there's 50 feet of grass behind them is genius. having to sift through people waiting in line to walk doesn't cause unnecessary bottlenecks or anything

that said the music was solid.

The only difficulty I had was navigating the bros fresh from fence-crashing on their way to see Rage Against the Machine as I was on my way to see Radiohead.

It's just odd seeing certain bands that look so out of place playing in the middle of the day.
