Great band with no career defining album, IMO. A lot of good songs on all of their records, but a lot of filler too. They were great live, saw them open for Aerosmith at Alpine Valley in probably 1990, and I saw them headline the Aragon a little while later, and motherfucking JELLYFISH was the opener. AWESOME SHOW!!!!!!! Steve Gorman, the drummer, has a sports show on Fox radio, I used to listen to the podcast all the time. He is one chill dude, and a great drummer. http://stevegormansports.com/ |

Let me tell you, these guys sure were a band. I'll never forget the way they wrote and performed songs for people to listen to. |

Yeah, I guess you're right, I kinda worded it wrong. I guess I meant that they had no really front to back 'masterpiece'. And to Ike, I'd have to disagree, they are one of the best live bands I've ever seen. I just checked setlist.fm. They went from playing to a sold out Alpine Valley opening for Aerosmith July 21 1990 to headlining a sold out Aragon Ballroom on May 17 1991. They were a killer live band. God, I love this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tv5NRHOGrrU |

Whenever I watch Almost Famous, I think Stillwater is an homage to the Black Crowes. However that's probably just in my head and has something to do with Kate Hudson inexplicably marrying Chris Robinson. |

Their 2nd album, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, is my favorite. No Speak No Slave and My Morning Song rule. |

Horsehead off By Your Side is probably my favorite Crowes tune. This version with Jimmy Page kills. http://youtu.be/WKCFwTwBzIw |

For as many things I've found, seen, and heard on the internet, for the life of me I have never been able to find the special version of "Hard to Handle" that had horns playing in the little hook/break sections of the song ... a radio remix to 'pop' the song on the radio, so to speak ... off some promo CD or something ... gave it a sound closer to Otis Redding's version. |

Stop searching they suck It's my white whale. Well, actually I'm my own white whale; bad comparison. Point is I've found pretty much everything I could ever want music-wise, except for the damnable version. Meanie. Calling CH or Telegram Sam ... seems they might be the best resources off the top of my head ... probably a few others ... Eaglo? |
