Rock and roll is not the symphony. Rock bands are not orchestras. It matters not a whit what the first chair violinist playing Shostakovich No. 5 looks like or how she is dressed. In fact, she best remains faceless while she reproduces the piece with perfection. In rock and roll, image, appearance, and style are critical. Every band has a creation myth. The importance of actual musical "quality" in a rock and roll performance falls somewhere between the singer's hairstyle and the grade of cocaine you are snorting during the show. Mistakes in rock and roll are beautiful. There is no transcendence in practiced perfection. I'm sure plenty of people enjoy Tributo and the musicians are making some decent bank for their efforts. Good for them. But that ain't what I call rock and roll. |

Is it just coincidence, or do they always use the same equipment that the original band uses? Gibson SG guitar and double bass drum in this case. It was a pretty good cover, but didnt blow me away. |

I'm going to say it's by design rather than coincidence. |
