I think this has been a better year for music than 2014. What has tickled your fancy thus far? My candidates for songs of the year to this point: Sleater-Kinney, "Surface Envy" Father John Misty, "The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment," and "Chateau Lobby #4" The Kickback, "Sting's Teacher Years" Desaparecidos, "City on a Hill" Kendrick Lamar, "i" Tobias Jesso Jr., "Hollywood," and "Leaving L.A." Destroyer, "Times Square," and "Dream Lover" Viet Cong, "Continental Shelf" Vince Staples, "Norf Norf" Jason Isbell, "24 Frames" St. Vincent, "Teenage Talk" Courtney Barnett, "Pedestrian at Best," and "Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go to the Party" Wilco, "Taste the Ceiling" Sufjan Stevens, "Death with Dignity" Leon Bridges, "Coming Home" El Vy, "Return to the Moon" |

Wesley's Theory is probably my favorite on the album Momma is kinda unnecessary and out of place I don't pretend to be a hip hop aficionado, but Vince Staples' CD ranks as my favorite in that genre so far for 2015. I still have a lot more listening to do in this area, though. |
