I got a decent video and sound from wish you were here... I think doug did too. It's on my Facebook.
Last night's performance much better than the jimmy kimmel show clip.

Epic fail for me not going to this show.

I accept my Douchebag of the week nomination.

I've got to get to one of his shows before it's all said and done.

Iggy Pop at the Chicago Theater last night probably was no slouch either.

Is it available through a streaming service?

Kind of strange it's titled as the Animals 2018 Remix but wasn't released until Sep 2022.

From what I had read before, the remix was done in 2018, then before the set was released, unsurprisingly, some bickering between Waters and Gilmour regarding the packaging or liner notes or some shit held this up.

Post subject:  Re: Mr. Gilmour

I have not listened to the Animals remix but was pondering David Gilmour's playing earlier today.

He is by far the best "less is more" player in the universe. He could bend one note and I'd recognize him from any other guitar player. I just watched the VH1 making of Dark Side of the Moon the other night but I keep coming back to Gilmour's playing on the end of "Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2" and "Comfortably Numb". His playing is just perfect.

It's one thing to hear a Randy Rhoads guitar lick that's technically out of my league and then you have David Gilmour just bending simple notes and I'm equally envious.

I generally side with Gilmour in his disputes with Waters but I don't know why his wife is involved...she needs to butt out.

Does he still use a Hiwatt live? Those amps are insane.

Jaw Breaker,

It's on Youtube music. Not even sure you have to subscribe to hear it. If not, they are on Youtube itself.

Just listening on shitty headphones, but even there it sounds good and a little different. Drums sound great. On my daughter's stereo, it's definitely sharper. Gonna order the vinyl to get the booklet they pack with it....

Interested in hearing what the people who know what they are talking about (that's not me) think....

Dave’s post Waters writing process is interesting . He basically comes up with the music , scats or hums the melody into a tape recorder and the wife takes it from there and comes up with the lyrics . Im not saying she’s penning Byron but if you like any of his later Floyd and solo efforts , chances are she wrote the words .

Yeah I knew she did lyrics on Division Bell and his solo stuff which is fine but I don't think she should be involving herself in their disputes. In Waters' response to why it was delayed he mentioned her by name so she was involved somehow. Also I read an interview about release and for some reason she was there and answering questions before Gilmour. Interviewer would ask something like how insistent was Waters about his new liner notes being used and she's answering oh you have no idea then they would laugh. I don't know why she is involved in Floyd business.

Probably something about various royalties with all the dueling tours, live and re-recordings. Also it’s a big deal if someone is a writer or just a performer. They did not do the Lennon-McCartney thing and share all. I am not saying they should either but as I understood Waters was words and the band largely Gilmour was the music. This is probably proven in all the newer Floyd had his aid write the words.

I don't know why Waters is mentioning Rick Wright. He wrote Us and Them and Great Gig in the Sky. If he wants to feud with Gilmour that's fine but leave Rick Wright out of it.

Author:  pittmike [ Fri Feb 10, 2023 11:57 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Mr. Gilmour

Wright was fired or quit during the early Wall recording. After that he was only let back as a contracted player. Maybe Gilmour let him all the way back in the 90s.

We saw him at the UC last year and he absolutely came across as a bitter, preachy egomaniac.
