Report: Wyatt Family likely for a 'big push' as The Shield deal with lingering heat backstage

With The Shield still reportedly feeling the effects of the backstage heat that has been on the group for a few weeks now, a report is now stating the Wyatt Family is likely in a for a "big push" very soon, possibly to take The Shield's spot.

It was back on July 26 that my esteemed colleague, Keith Harris, brought word that The Shield, the dynamic heel trio consisting of United States Champion Dean Ambrose and Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, was being downplayed on WWE television thanks to backstage heat with Vince McMahon and a few other top stars.

Now, according to a new report from Bryan Alvarez in the latest edition of the Figure Four Weekly Newsletter (subscription required but strongly recommended), the heat with The Shield is still lingering to the point that we can reasonably expect the Wyatt Family to be taking their spot.

The Wyatt Family should be getting a big push soon, likely taking the spot that the Shield has had for a long time. There is still underlying heat on the Shield for reasons talked about in this newsletter in recent weeks (the Undertaker injury that kept him off this show, the big argument backstage with Orton, etc.). Wyatts are considered a HHH project, and with a few of his projects bombing (Sin Cara, Amazing Kong), he's likely going to go hard with this one.
While it's impossible to verify a report like this, the best indicator is what we see on TV each week and there's no questioning the fact that The Shield, who were wrestling and defeating main event talent earlier this year, have been put on the backburner over the past month or so.

That includes not even announcing a match for Rollins and Reigns at SummerSlam, at least not as of this writing. Not only that but -- SPOILER ALERT -- the group does a job for Mark Henry, Big Show and Rob Van Dam on the SmackDown go home show this Friday night. Ambrose, who appears to be collateral damage here, will work the pre-show in a U.S. title match against the aforementioned RVD. If he loses, it's probably safe to assume this is the reason why.

Meanwhile, Bray Wyatt and his family are a hot act with plenty of intrigue and potential. He's working a featured match at SummerSlam, a "Ring of Fire" bout against Kane that could serve as a catalyst to make him look incredibly strong while writing "The Big Red Monster" off TV to go film the See No Evil sequel.

So while The Shield may be getting pushed down the card, at least it seems the Wyatt Family is going to be getting pushed up it.

The Wyatts are a HHH project   I find that hard to believe. I thought he was a stickler for the bodybuilder look.

"There was heat on the Shield in recent weeks. It was said that Rollins and Reigns were the two the office was upset with."

In Rollins' case the details are sketchy with the belief being it was some petty issue with The Big Show over "improper conduct", like maybe forgetting to shake his hand. With Reigns the infraction was more blatant, getting into a locker room argument with Randy Orton for everyone to see:

"Another WWE source said the issue with Reigns was that there was a house show tag match which Reigns and Randy Orton were in, and they botched up a spot and got into a shouting match about it backstage. A guy in Reigns' spot arguing with a guy in Randy Orton's spot is a great way to get massive heat on you. "

Fucking KS...

Sitting on the shield a little bit isn't a bad thing. They have still explained virtually nothing about them so there is total mystery as to who is behind them and what they are trying to do. This will hopefully also keep them from doing something stupid like starting some infighting resulting in a breakup.

The Wyatts should be great too. They can squash some guys here and there and then pick out virtually any big name guy and torment him and ultimately defeat or lose by DQ to them at a PPV.

If the suits remain patient you can build so many layers of depth to both of these factions and each individual within them. The Wyatts have a ton of potential for recorded promos at their cabin or wherever as well.

According to court bauer on the bauer and pollock show (2nd best podcast out there) Rollins was being a dick about putting together the match at Mania in regards to Big Show. Would have made Show look like a chump and was a dick about it. Another quote Court used was a writer told him, "The Shield, REALLY believes in the Shield". Inferred all of the issues were Rollins and Vince loves Ambrose.
