So that's how it's going to be, eh Speeps? Talking pretty big for someone that lost their superior backup.

All I know is if you were about to be pinned by an emo hillbilly, I would've interfered and made sure we kept the belts.

As I said, I consider us even. The Brain and Boyd understand. Hopefully you and Jackref do as well.

Goldberg was a creation of the WCW machine. However, he was the reason WCW stayed successful for an extra year. If they handled 1999 properly, the company could still be around. The Finger Poke of Doom, put it away Chas, could have been wildly successful. Yep, I said it. Discuss.

Fingerpoke of Doom may have not been shit on as much if it were someone other than Hogan.

If Sting was played as the mega-face who was going to tear down the nWo for good, and then he was in Hogan's role and there was a more believable on-air authority figure it could have been decent.

I think that the fingerpoke was not the end of WCW.
The turning point was when the NWo made a mockery of Arn retirement and there was no retaliation.
That was the end of WCW credibility with the fans. The way it works is the heels mess with the face then the face retaliate. They threw that into total disarray by this scit.

The unnecessary mocking of Arn lost roughly 1% of the audience. It was awful, but it only hit hardcore fans. Fans that will get over it and watch again because they can't help it. The fact it was done with no planned reciprocation shows how little detail existed at the time.

I'm watching a Boston Garden Card from 86'. The Boston crowd is making San Jose in 94' look hot. Orton Jr. looks 52, and Billy Jack Haynes looks like he's going through a manic moment during the match. I hope this gets better.

Edit: It got worse. Billy Jack Haynes was almost literally whacking off on the floor. #VeryUncomfortable

Hogan is the only guy that could have made that work. They couldn't follow up. It's blamed on injuries, etc. That was part of it, but ego as well. The NWO was so hot at its peak, they could have replicated the run for six months. But the company was a steaming mess of warm dung.

What I am saying is that skit showed that that the where not following the established formula.
The good guys need to eventually hit the bad guys hard and over come. The night they reformed the Horsemen was a perfect example of that .I was at Joes on Weed Street. The place was packed. When Arm came out and started you could barley hear it because the pace went absolutely nuts. When he went "I almost forgot my best friend,Ric Flair" I never I mean never heard a louder pop. Remember also what Arn said, they where not nice guys, they did not wear white hats.If they followed through with it from there not only would the NWO been a greater draw but the Horsemen would have as well. They dropped the ball.As it stands I can book better than what the E has right now, Hayes is the only one that could give me a run.
If I was writing this shit I would have Orton Champ and Zig chasing him.

Hogan was so finished at that point anything he did was shit on. That's why it was so poorly received. It was Hogan inserting himself into the spotlight again. With Hogan, there was no way that angle would work.

Remeber nWo 2000?

Orton as face champ is brutal.

Yes. He is a natural heel. In response to Speeps' theory on Hogan. I know what you're saying. If it was booking 101, you have a new feud for Hogan, while rebuilding Goldberg. Hall did something to his wagon, Goldberg was accused of rape, Nash was booking, Luger worked his way into the NWO, etc. My point has always been it COULD have worked. The crowd was so hot when Nash won. They were STUNNED when Hogan won the Fingerpoke of Doom. They could have done that for at least a year with any decent booking and company control. Unfortunately, the last two didn't exist.

It's just unfortunate that the territories have been wiped out.

I really only saw the AWA, channel 44 Windy City whatever, and channel 60 WCCW growing up.

I was pretty oblivious to the NWA as well as WWF.

Can't believe our options now compared to that!

I'm not a huge UFC fan, but the friend I was out with today has very little knowledge of MMA. He thought they had already peaked. I explained how the Feds are looking at it being a possible monopoly. This led to an argument. "If there's one entity, someone should come along and compete." While I agree, look at an upstart going against UFC or WWE. Good luck.

WCCW was the first wrestling show I ever viewed. They pissed me off though, because they'd cut in the middle of the promoted main event to make you watch the next week. At roughly age seven, my Aunt said I stated "I'll watch this every week if you just show the match." Yep, I've always been awesome.

Watching Steamboat and Savage "practice" for WM III is awesome. It might be better than the WM match. #HOFPROS

What old school booker, living or dead, would you want to start a new promotion?

Mid South Bill Watts is a good choice.

It is a shame the suits did not leave him alone and let him run WCW the way he wanted to, he would have had success there.

I don't know about that.

The boys despised him, and that would've been hard to overcome.

Yeah it would have been a challenge, but once they started getting more green in their pockets I bet their attitudes would have changed.

That's true.

Another guy I like was SMW Jim Cornette.

I never got to see much of SMW and Cornette's booking, but I am a huge fan of his so I am sure he would do a great job. He learned a lot under Watts and I would imagine do things pretty similar.

Another good choice would be Eddie Graham.

He was just behind his time. If his dad owned a wrestling company, he could have taken it over. The greasing up with strippers and doing enough coke to kill an elephant was par for the course in 1985.

After listening to the Bill Watts-Cornette shoot, the Cowboy reminds me of Uncle Rico.

"I almost literally killed three guys in a bar fight."

Easy Panther.

I haven't watched that one yet. I can only take Cornette in small doses.

It's not much Cornette. Just him asking Watts questions.
