Too many people are blaming this loss on Lopez's lack of discipline/not being himself or Salido simply possessing a style that magically neutralizes him. Lost amid such talk (and the focus on Lopez's post-fight comments) is the fact that Salido fought a damn fine fight. He was controlling distance beautifully and wasn't having to eat many clean shots at all to pressure Lopez. The increased frequency of left hooks and uppercuts in this fight, complementing the right that was his primary weapon last time, showed he also wasn't simply doing the same thing all over again. I've been especially annoyed by comments comparing Salido to Margarito, as this completely underestimates how skilled his performance was and simply attributes his repeated success against Lopez to his chin and nothing else.

The scorecards were a complete joke. I really don't understand people trying to justify having the fight that close by giving JuanMa the 9th. It may have been one of the most entertaining rounds of the year and Lopez may have been pressing the action more, but he was still eating loads more punches than Salido, as he pretty much was throughout the entire fight. Even calling it even would be unfair to Salido IMO.
