WWE Smackdown TV taping report
April 23, 2013
London, England
Report by Scott and Markomac, PWTorch readers

Smackdown SPOILERS 4/26

Some highlights and potential off-air bits.

It turns out that the six-man tag of The Shield vs. Team Undertaker was abandoned and instead it was Sheamus vs. Big Show, Randy Orton vs. Mark Henry, and Undertaker vs. Dean Ambrose.

- Jack Swagger beat Alberto Del Rio in a No DQ match. This was the opening match. The match dragged a little, but there were some good spots that came across well live.

- Big Show beat Sheamus. The match went on far too long and, like Raw the night after WrestleMania, the crowd started to amuse themselves. For the finish, Henry came out and distracted Sheamus, who took a WMD from Show.

- Mark Henry beat Randy Orton via DQ. This was more entertaining, and Orton got a big pop. For the finish, Sheamus interfered with a Brogue Kick, causing the DQ. Orton then RKO'ed Henry. It looks more and more likely for Show & Henry vs. Orton & Sheamus at Extreme Rules.

- The Undertaker beat Dean Ambrose via submission. Brilliant match. Ambrose tapped out to Taker and then started taking out the rest of The Shield. Unfortunately, the numbers caught up to Taker, and he went through the announce table via triple powerbomb. This was epic. Shield then gloated in the ring as a "You tapped out" chant went around the arena. I would expect WWE to end the taping there.

After the taping went off the air, New Age Outlaws's music hit. Road Dogg did a quick count of The Shield and realized that he and Billy Gunn were outnumbered. Cue up Triple H's music. They beat down Shield, then helped Taker to his feet and helped him to the top of the ramp, where they pretended like they were going to put Taker in the on-stage taxi. The whole bit got the biggest pop of the night and ended the taping with a "This is Awesome" chant.

Fandango then came out at the end and got a great reaction. It was electric and a similar feeling to the Raw after Mania.

Dean Ambrose and the Undertaker coming on next.

I can't wait to see it.

The spoilers made it seem like a better match than what was on tv.

Though the post-match beatdown was nice.
