Floyd says the fight is on. I hate the fact that it's at a catchweight of 152, but I'd still rather watch this than some bullshit with Devon Alexander or Amir Khan.

It seems too early for Canelo, so I figure Mayweather will still be good enough to take him. But if both waited a few more years, Mayweather would be too old, and Canelo would have lost a chance to beat one of the greatest fighters of all time in his prime. If the fight is competitive but Canelo loses, I could see this turning into an immediate rematch.

Very risky fight. I would feel better about him fighting Pac-Mac if he ever wakes up.

He has the power. If he gets hit like he did in the Mosley fight this guy has the power and skill to put him on the canvas.

Alvarez has speed and knockout power. Mayweather has the the clear boxing edge but he is getting older.

He has not shown prototypical 1-punch KO power, though, and it will be significantly harder for him to land his usual crushing body shots against Floyd.

I agree on Alvarez's power. His shots sound heavy but he doesn't have concussive one-shot power. Beyond this, I think his stamina and output problems severely limit what he will be able to do with Floyd. Alvarez isn't a stereotypical Mexican pressure fighter and will not be able to employ that style on the older, lighter man because he doesn't have the endurance to sustain it.

Seven days out, Alvarez is at 157.4 and Mayweather is 152.5. Alvarez will probably make the weight a bit easier than expected but I still think he'll struggle stamina-wise.

I'm just as pumped for the rest of the card as the main event. Garcia-Matthysse is absolutely the best fight that can be made at 140 right now and should be extremely entertaining for as long as it lasts (which is as long as Garcia's chin holds up IMO). Smith-Molina is a legitimate 154 match-up with a belt on the line, and while it definitely won't be as action-packed as either of the features, I'm one of the few who really enjoys Molina's inside work. And Cano-Theophane should be an entertaining brawl to open the PPV card.

Not sure if this is completely current, but it should help:

Thanks, KS! That is an old list since I see a couple places on there that aren't open anymore. If they have it at Morgan's that would be good. But maybe I'll try the Mexican restaurant at 34th and Western. I wouldn't mind rooting on Canelo con mis amigos.

How can any of you say Canelo has no power when he's knocked out 70% of his opponents? I believe he's down in weight to increase his speed. This won't be a cakewalk.

I think his only chance would be to land a big shot and I really doubt Mayweather will let that happen. Sure, this is a big payday for the kid, but I think it's too soon. He didn't need to fight Mayweather right now.

I agree it may be too soon but I also think people are ignoring Father Time. Mayweather hasn't taken a beating in his career but with age a lot of things slowdown. Mayweather has never fought someone like this and his age may make him vulnerable. Canelo will come out like an attack dog with improved speed and I don't know which way it will go.

I like Alvarez a lot but he's not ready to fight Mayweather. Money is going to put on a boxing clinic Saturday night.

Garcia should not have won that fight. He gave Matisse a low blow every round.

Boxing 101. Alvarez better start throwing bombs. It's his only chance.

There was no way Alvarez was going to win that fight. He just isn't seasoned enough to take on the best technician since who knows when. I watched it at El Cuaco at 34th and Western and even the savvy Mexican boxing fans in there weren't too disappointed in the outcome. It was a longshot for Canelo. He would have had to have landed one big blast and Mayweather is just too good to let that happen. And the fight was even worse than it looked. Alvarez was tough and fearless but Floyd really cut him apart. It was like a man against a boy.

Still, when you walk in with Bieber and Li'l Wayne you should automatically lose just because of your sheer douchebaggery.

Cinnamon couldn't beat a guy with a broken hand. Mayweather was barely using his right for the majority of the match. Even judge who scored the fight 114-114 shows that boxing is still broken. It is impossible to say Canelo won six rounds. The numbers show that straight up.

All of the judges were awful. At best you could have given Alvarez a round but to say he won 6 was criminal. You shouldn't be allowed to judge a fight.

Father Time appears to be giving Mayweather a pass for now. It's a beautiful thing to watch. Leonard and Hearns would have stopped him 30 years ago because he lacks the knockout power.

Floyd has the recurring right hand issue, but he has KO power. He just NEVER lets it go. Like, as in NEVER.

Remember what happened when he did? Knocked the fuck out of Ortiz - PA-POP!

Yeah, when he wasn't looking. That was only slightly less disgraceful than when Billie the Blue Bear knocked out Maggie in Million Dollar Baby.
