I cant believe it. Just announced on the PPV. Phil Brooks might get his ass whooped for reals. He is 36, that is a bit old to start cagefighting. |

I love CM Punk, but this maybe a really bad decision for him. However, it is a great thing for the UFC. This is going to bring eve more fans and more money to them. |

Two "Brooklyn Brawlers", and hopefully he is not 0-2 by then. Third fight is a "#1 condenter" fight for whatever weight class he is in. Don't know how well Phil Brooks is going to do, but it will make monet for everybody involved. |

P.S. This thread is not official until Don Tiny gives his thoughts. |

Maybe, but its a great payday, either way. People'll want to see it; ultimately it'll be more interesting than Brock Lesnar. |

Wasn't he just bitching a week ago about Ryback beating the shit out of him accidentally? Now he wants to fight people for real? |

It's quite a bit different to have an actual fight with someone rather than completely give yourself to someone to be thrown around by whoever the office books you with and having to trust that they won't be greener than Kermit's dick. donspiracy wrote: P.S. This thread is not official until Don Tiny gives his thoughts. I think this decision will turn out as smart and successful for him as Lesnar's time with the Minnesota Vikings turned out to be. Look, I enjoyed Phil's promos way more than his ring work - particularly in the WWE, so my interest in watching him fight, say, a former Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger ranks up there with watching an episode of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers (of which I have not seen one second, thanks for asking). I'll just say I agree with WWE's message to him earlier: WWE wishes Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk) the best of luck in his newest endeavor, and I'll likely as much interest in the matter beyond that as they will. (one last note - let's not miss the delightful irony of a guy who was vocal about the injustice of some guys getting a spot on a live TV shot or PPV that probably didn't deserve it ... and now he's taking away a spot from someone somewhere on a UFC PPV and, I dare say, he doesn't deserve it) |

HOWEVER, seeing as dana and the boys know how to do business, i'm sure they'll cut punk in pretty nicely and he'll make a cool 7-low8 figures for his troubles and recharge the coffers before he goes off and does a few dates with NJPW for the love. i wonder if he'd be a draw on that new lucho libradores show? is that the exact name or am i fucking it up? i know there's a new mexican-style wrestling thing on some obscure-at-best american cable network, and i wonder if CM punk is technically a big enough name/niche as to where he could show up at some tiny/new/post-TNA production and actually give it some name brand recognition and/or credibility to the point where he could eventually be THE guy in a promotion that actually rivals WWE to a small extent. |

Brock didn't face cans right out of the gate, he was fighting some of the best HW's in the world within 5 fights. He fought Herring and Frank Mir within his 1st 3 fights. That said, Lesnar had serious wrestling creds behind him at the very least to go with freakish athletic ability and size -not sure what CM Punk brings to the table in any real fighting regards as I don't know much about the dude and am too lazy to look anything up right now. But it is possible he faces decent comp very early. |
