They could easily lose 7 of those remaining games, and I wouldn't be shocked if it ended up being more than that.

They are going to beat Detroit. It's not like Detroit has this long history of being a great team that can recover from a rough start. Last year Detroit was more of a fluke than the norm for them. Who knows how they play vs Seattle at Seattle either. Maybe they can pull that one off as well.

To answer your question Minnesota is a better team than Arizona.

Good points, SHARK.
But that won't happen to the Vikings because their RB never gets hurt and they have a long-time, proven QB at the helm.

Spanky, Christian Ponder isn't Jay Cutler and Adrian Peterson isn't Matt Forte. Let's not forget that A.P. tore his ACL in last year's second to last game vs. the Redskins, whom Minnesota faces this weekend.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at SHARK. I just suck at humor.

Again, I don't think they are a playoff team. The schedule gets tougher, not all of the teams under them in the NFC are gonna keep sucking, etc.

Who is a better team right now? Minnesota or Arizona?

Minnesota. But we'll have a better idea a couple weeks from now.

Is neither an option? The Cardinals may be 4-1, but John Skelton might be thisclose to returning to action at QB for Arizona if they don't shore up their offensive line. They were atrocious Thursday night in their 17-3 loss in St. Louis last week allowing 9 sacks and doing a lousy job trying to protect Kevin Kolb. I'm not sure they're that good either.

AZ's wins:
Seattle
@ New England :shock:
Philly
Miami

Minnesota's wins:
Jacksonville
San Fran
@ Detroit
Tennessee

Both have one loss (on the road).

You think Arizona's win against NE was more impressive than Minnesota's win against SF? I dont.

AZ has a point differential of +16
Minnesota has a point differential of +41

I would say Arizona beating New England by the skin of their teeth isn't as shocking as the way Minnesota beat San Fran regardless if it was in New England or not. Minnesota were pretty much in control the whole game and New England should have won the game but their kicker choked away an easy field goal.

Start off with road game vs. home game.
Add in that the road game was 3,000 miles from AZ
Minnesota is always, year after year, a much better team in that dome than on the road. They may have one of the better HFA in the league, right?

Tough to just toss aside the AZ win @ NE - which is what you guys seem to be doing. Even if if we were to say the signature win by each team was equal - look at the other teams they've each beaten. AZ has played better teams than MInn.

I'm gonna pretend you didn't type that.

Is there a long list of teams that cruise into suburban Boston and win by 4 TD's?

I dont have the stats/knowledge to comment on Minnesota's HFA, nor do I care to look it up. Obviously its harder to play on the road than at home for every team except the NY Giants.

Like Chris said, the AZ/NE game was very close. It could have gone either way. I think AZ played well enough and earned the win. Im not sure what I said to make you think I was discounting that win. It's just not as impressive as thoroughly dominating the 49ers at their own game for 60 minutes, which is what Minnesota did. Also, San Francisco is a better team than New England is.

Im not sure their quality of opponents is all that different, and it's widely accepted that point differential is one of the most accurate, simple statisitics for predicting future success. Minnesota is killing Arizona in that category.

You give me too much credit.

Obviously one game doesn't prove anything. Green Bay isn't better than Chicago right now. But it's getting harder to make a case that AZ is better than Minnesota. The Cardinals look like a 6-10 team and have for three straight weeks now.

Arizona is playing with their backup QB on the road.

They dont even really have a starting QB. One of the many reasons why they aren't a good team.

You could even get by with that, if there were any semblance of a running game.

Bump.

They are about to lose 2 out of 3 since this thread. The two losses to NFL powers Washington and Tampa.
...and 3 of their next 4 on the road:
@Seattle
@Chicago
@Green Bay

They'll be .500 or worse in a month.

Yeah they kinda needed to win last night with their upcoming schedule. Those are three really tough road games. I think they are still clearly better than Arizona, but I may have overrated them a bit.

Yeah the Arizona comparison was kind of a separate conversation.

As I'm sure CIJ remembers :drunken: the whole debate started with me saying I didn't think the Bears had to worry about the Vikings as far as winning the division goes. And then I said I didn't think the Vikes would even make the playoffs at all, to which he almost had a stroke.......and here we are.

We should have made a $$$ wager.

Yep, this thread is just one more example of my NFL brilliance. Of course the Vikings were a top 16 nfl team all season.

At the time, that didn't seem crazy... to me.

I still dont trust Green Bay. Didnt expect the Bears to shit the bed like that without major injuries.
