Agree. I like him. He does have a bit of the 'jock' in him. I'm just thankful we have someone who focuses on the offensive side. Zimmer went through an offensive coordinator every year. You can't win in the NFL doing that.

I'm fine with any of these scenarios for 2022 as it will be a transition year for the Vikings. With Rodgers re-signing, you can build for a 2024 run and no one could fault that approach.

1. Do not extend Cousins. Bite the bullet and pay him the 45 million. Trade other players as needed to get under the cap. The only untouchable Viking for me is Justin Jefferson.

2. Trade Cousins to the Browns for Baker Mayfield and whatever else you can get.

3. Trade Cousins to the Colts for Carson Wentz and whatever else you can get.

Ugh.

Tom Pelissero
@TomPelissero
The #Vikings are signing Pro Bowl QB Kirk Cousins to a one-year, $35 million fully guaranteed extension that puts him under contract through 2023, per sources.

Cousins gets a raise to $40 million in 2022, $55 million payable by next March and a no-trade clause.

Granted.....options are very limited right now, but this is just an automatic admission of not winning.

They'll win 9 games and threaten a wild card. Ownership wants to be competitive and not tank. That philosophy puts the Vikings in eternal NFL hell.

dont they ever listen to their fans? i dont know anyone who wants to see another cousins game. they would have made more money drafting anyone in the 1st round and throwing him out there.

No, ownership is afraid to have a year where they only win 4 games. Even though one year like that puts you in a position most years to draft a top QB and compete for a championship with a QB on a rookie deal. It's beyond frustrating.

Kellen Monds may be a starter down the line. He definitely needs the 2-3 years they are providing with this move.

Zimmer refused to give Monds a chance, said he saw enough of him in practice. It will be interesting to see what the new regime does with him. They better not keep Mannion who is an awful #2 QB.

I like the free agent signings and the contract restructuring so far. Vikes might have best three WR's in the division now with Adams gone.

They still need to find a starting center, a guard and add a couple of cornerbacks.

The Vikings should win the division next year. It looks to be Cousins proof.

Maybe if 9-8 wins the North. I'm not holding my breath though.

Still can't believe the Packers didn't match considering the NFL got rid of the salary cap.

Still need some interior offensive linemen and cornerbacks. Plus, they re-signed Sean Mannion as back-up QB who gives you no chance to win if Kirk goes down. Kirk likes guys in the QB room like Mannion and Mond who aren't any threat to him.

The defense last year was horrible. And the o-Line was only marginally better.

The Bears can actually compete in that division next year unless the Vikes make some radical changes.

I don't know. I like the Vikings roster position by position a lot more than I do the Bears. Assuming the health issues aren't an issue for the current Vikes roster, Roquan Smith is the only Bear that I'd want on the Vikings.

#Vikings signing Packers free-agent CB Chandon Sullivan to one-year contract. He is a slot corner and can take over the role from Mackensie Alexander, who won't return as a free agent.

Agree, but I don't see it. No elite offensive linemen or corner backs. As they stand now, unless they vastly improve at Center, Guard and Corner, they are a 9-8 team at best.

That's failure. They have too much talent at the skill positions, and the shackles are supposedly being removed from Cousins.

I agree, 9-8 is NFL hell. But, the defense is pretty questionable still. If they don't fix the Corner position, they'll give up a ton of points. Plus, the Oline only has one change to this point and they were among the worst in the league. I'm hopeful they fix both aspects of that in the draft.

I believe Zimmer was a major problem, that offense is loaded with talent..explosive talent. This team should be scoring 27 a game on average.

They believe Goff is their guy. They passed on Watson because of that belief.

Dorsey has this team heading in the right direction, and they now have a lot of draft capital. No team in the division scare me more than them going forward.
