They believe Goff is their guy. They passed on Watson because of that belief.

Dorsey has this team heading in the right direction, and they now have a lot of draft capital. No team in the division scare me more than them going forward.

I still think that Dan Campbell is nuts but he had them playing hard for him. I just wonder how long he can keep it up.

Kevin O'Connell's optimistic take on the Vikings O-line: "There’s plenty of coaches in this room right now who are talking about two or three or four spots on the offensive line coming together," while the Vikings have one open job at right guard.

This is a bad take. This means that they are going into the season with the idea that Bradbury is their starting center. He was the 29th ranked center in 2021.

O’Connell added there might be some weeks he turns the offense over to coordinator Wes Phillips “and I’ll go be a defensive coach that week.”

“That’s the good part about being a head coach now: You can be in different rooms when you want, and nobody can say anything to you.”

Patrick Peterson back. A good signing. We need experience and bodies on the back end. I'm ok with taking best player available at #12 and a cornerback in the 2nd round.

Warren Sharp
@SharpFootball
the Vikings allowed TDs on 32.4% of opponent drives in the final 4 minutes before halftime or the end of the game

worst in the NFL

NFL average was 12%

#31 was 20.6%

not only did they rank #32 in the NFL last season...

they ranked #686 of 686 teams since at least 2000

That would be a great move for the Vikings.

They've done a good job in FA shoring up the front 7. Hicks would be a great addition. Still need a corner or two.

I'm hoping the Vikings use the 12 pick and do not trade back. They really need a difference maker and it's rare that they are picking this high.

Since Sauce and Stingley will be gone, they can go best player available. Hopefully, a couple teams jump up and take QB's pushing some of the elite players down to 12.

My top 3 choices at 12.

1. Jameson Williams, WR Alabama
2. Kyle Hamilton, Safety Notre Dame...I've seen him dropping in mock drafts
3. Trent McDuffie, CB Washington

I've seen edge rushers like George Karlaftis of Purdue and Jermaine Johnson of FSU mocked here as well. I'm ok with either of those, but they are not my preference.

WTF! Trading down 20 spots to the Lions??? And flipping 2nd round picks, but only picking up an additional- 3rd rounder? Wow...Not a fan...At all. Weak.

When I saw the deal I thought it did not like a very good haul for the vikings for letting the Lions move up so far.

Agreed and I get it. Trading down sucks to a fan on draft day. Might pay off in the long run but still…

Weird for an in-division trade. :scratch:

That is awful. Moving up 20 spots in the 1st round commands a 1st next year and nothing less.

And then not trading the 32nd pick to a team who will draft a QB and wants an extra year of control. I don't get it. I like Cline, but he probably would be there at 34. Awful draft so far.

They still need a cornerback...Kyler Gordon or Andrew Booth at pick 34 unless....they make another bad trade.

32. MINNESOTA VIKINGS (VIA DET): S LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA
Pick Grade: X

Lions Receive: R1 12, R2 46
Vikings Receive: R1 32, R2 34, R3 66

After trading all the way back from the 12th overall pick, the Vikings land PFF’s No. 2 safety and 26th-best prospect overall, Lewis Cine at No. 32. The Georgia Bulldog — like most of the people on the team — is an elite athlete, who posted a 4.37 40-yard and 11-foot-1 broad jump at the NFL Combine. He was one of the best safeties in college football last year, turning in an 82.4 PFF grade for the season that ranked eighth in the Power Five. Cine was also one of the best tacklers in the country at Georgia, with just 11 misses on 159 career attempts. He was primarily a deep safety in college, but he can be more versatile in Minnesota. -AT

Sounds like a fuckin' Spielberg movie.

evin Seifert
@SeifertESPN
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah says he told Lewis Cine that the Vikings are “building a building full of dream chasers."

After the Lions brought in Josh Reynolds, who played with Goff in LA, and Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson took over play calling from Anthony Lynn Goff finished out the season:

3-2
107 passer rating (3rd highest in the league during that stretch)
11 TD
2 INT
112/161 (70%)

Regarding the Vikings GM. I saw an interview earlier this week that concerned me. Someone asked him how it felt to be in charge of the draft. He talked about how many people are involved and how happy he was that the Vikings bought into his leadership style of not imposing his will, but collaborating with the entire building. Last night I saw the early fruits of that approach. Someone has to have the ego to make the final call, the tough call. It's much easier to trade back, then to make a pick with only 11 players off the board.

The 1st red flag should have been when he let Jim Harbaugh walk out of the building without a contract.

If the Vikings play their cards right today, Kwesi might be able to trade down and completely out of picking on day 2. Wouldn't want him to have to make a tough decision.

Field Yates
@FieldYates
New Vikings S Lewis Cine did not allow a TD as the primary defender in pass coverage last season on 500 total pass coverage snaps.

That was the most coverage snaps by any FBS defender without allowing a TD all year.

Agree. I'm more concerned with the whole process of drafting him. Kwesi seeming more new agey/touchy feely than NFL GM. He's too happy just to be there for me. Had the Vikings gotten an additional 2nd or 3rd round pick next year, I would have felt better. I understand that the Lions weren't going to give up an additional 1st rounder.

Yes, Kwesi...please help your division rivals trade up and get the WR's that they need....what a disaster.

You're welcome! Maybe we can find a way to help the Bears out as well tonight. Why not make the entire division better.

Actually the Packers paid a steep price so you may end up happy on down the road. Probably not next year though.
