Open season on old Aaron...

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was not shy in giving his clear and controversial opinions of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

During a recent appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, C.J. Stroud was discussing the legacy of Aaron Rodgers, and he made it clear that there are a number of quarterbacks he thinks have had more impressive careers than Rodgers, including Eli Manning.

“You want the rings, dog,” Stroud said. “Eli got two.”

He went on to take a pretty direct shot at Aaron Rodgers.

“You know what I think it is?” Stroud said according to JetsXFactor.com. “I’ve talked to Tom Brady, about this because he’s a good mentor to me. . . . What he told me is his teammates, and how he treats his teammates. And that’s where I think it falls off. We don’t know how Aaron Rodgers treats his teammates, but you can guarantee that Tom Brady treats his teammates right because of how he got those rings.”
Stroud also seems to think that Rodgers benefitted greatly from a strong supporting cast. He thinks that if other quarterbacks – like Matthew Stafford, for example – had the same supporting cast, they would have more Super Bowls.

“If you give Matthew Stafford a chance like Aaron Rodgers had, I guarantee you he might have had more rings,” Stroud said. “I think he would have like three or four.”

Those are obviously some strong words from Stroud.

Stafford played with an, in his prime, Calvin Johnson

I've always thought the Lions had great offensive skills players but maybe I am as wrong as CJ

Stroud makes a lot of great points about Rodgers' leadership and his failures as a player. St least Rodgers can hang those interception banners when his career is over. Maybe wrap himself in a few while he's getting high.

Sounds like Stroud admits he didn't watch the games. Rodgers only has one ring, yet widely considered better than farve who also has one ring. Yet Rodgers is the problem?

Also, there's been tons of way better athletes than Rodgers at that position. Most without any rings or a consideration for hall of fame.

I think he *might* have another ring if he left 10 years ago, but that would have only been for the change of scenery like Stafford got. I think what the Packers do year after year is impressive, and if you only go by rings you're saying Rodgers is better than Dan Marino.

I don’t think Rodgers has had particularly great supporting casts.

Stafford was over .500 four times in 11 seasons and was 0-3 as a wild card in that time. His thoughts are pretty silly really.

I was speaking solely about Rodgers leadership and his failures. Besides, looking up to Brady is the way to go for anyone interested in winning championships. Jordan should even ask Brady what he could have done better. IMO, Brady is without question the greatest player in the history of team sports.

Rodgers is 0-6 in conference championship games when not playing against a 3rd string QB.

It’s kind of weird how you think the 3rd string qb comment that you repeatedly state is a clever point. Hint: nobody but you cares.

I’ll back up Frank here. I care.

Also Rodgers’ family hates him. People forget about that.

And yet every time I bring it up, Packers fans reply.

I'm not sure I know anyone who likes Aaron Rodgers the dude. I thought Pat McAfee did until I learned he pays Rodgers a million dollars.

I agree that he’s weird at a minimum and most likely is a bit of a jerk. He’s a guy that I changed my opinion on (as a human) about 5 years ago.

He’s probably been the most fun QB to watch outside of Mahomes.

Manning could be painful with the calling the play at the line. Brady was intentionally boring. Brees was a mix of the two. Fields is pure trash.

I love the way the guy plays football.

If we’re talking current I’d agree. However, Favre was more entertaining even if Rodgers was a better QB.

I can say this now, but I loved watching Favre. He was tough as hell and he played the game with the joy of a child. The gunslinger mentality didn't hurt either. Adrian Peterson cost him a Super Bowl. The Saints cheated too.

Favre won MVP, the Super Bowl, then took his team back to the big dance. His playing in two consecutive Super Bowls, to me, has always been a little underrated.

Aaron lucked into a SB appearance, then went 15-1 only lay an egg at home against Eli Manning in January.

Favre > Rodgers, stats be dammed.

Different eras.

Favre played in the, I’m-a-dumb-country-boy-just-chuckin-a-pigskin era. Rodgers played in the pay-me-enough-to-ruin-my-team era.

Dumb country boy had smart agents...
in 1997, the Packers locked up Hall of Famer Brett Favre to a then-league record seven-year contract worth $47.25 million, including a $12 million signing bonus.

In 2001 he signed an extension for 10 years, making Favre the NFL's first $100 million player. His contract would top the $90 million contract the Washington Redskins gave halfback Stephen Davis last year.

those are era's? players pulled the rodgers thing in farv's day too.

if you go by eras, farve played before CTE was recognized.
