It's too bad it seems like the Browns backed into a decent hire with Pettine. They're fortunate they didn't get their top choice McDaniels or some retread like Kubiak, which is exactly what that front office deserved. Then again, I'd rather see them luck into someone who might actually be good at his job than the Lions.

The outcry over Browns not having a coaching staff and letting go Ray Horton and Norv Turner was overblown. How Ray Horton became hot shit is confusing. Once he left the Cardinals defense became even better. That fucker blew a ton of 4th quarter leads with the Browns. Good fucking riddance.

Norv/Chud somehow saw fit to start the season with Weeden. What the fuck. Fireable offense right there.

There was talk that the front office was pressuring him to stick with Weeden in the first place, which is why the idea that he failed to hold him "accountable" as justification for his firing is all the more hilarious. He clearly played Weeden as little as possible after the start of the season, benched him twice, and was only forced to go back after Hoyer (who shockingly looked decent for the team) went down.

The reason the Chud firing is so bad is that he did about as well as could be expected given his limited personnel in a single year. Candidates were more than justified in not wanting to deal with that front office after such a short-sighted kneejerk firing.

Weeden was a Holmgren pick. Lombardi and Banner had no ties to Weeden whatsoever. Hoyer on the other hand was Lombardi's man-crush for years. I do think Chud could've been a good coach and don't have much faith in Lombardi/Banner/Haslem comedy troupe. But all the "sky-is-falling" drama queen shit from ink-stained fucksticks about Cleveland will disappear right away if Lombardi picks the right QB this draft. The Browns have a ton of talent than a bunch of teams.

Pettine looks like a cross between Jesse Ventura and Rick Harrison from "Pawn Stars".
