Eagles trading Torrey Smith to the Panthers. Sam Shields back in the NFL after a year off (concussions), signs with the Rams. If he can stay healthy, that's a nice threesome of Talib, Peters, and Shields. |

This is a critical draft for the Browns to get right and they just dealt away three picks from it to try and claw for wins in a season I dont think they can really compete in. Everyone is salivating over the Barkley/Duke backfield with Landry/Gordon/Coleman out wide and Njoku at TE. The Browns even have a damn fine offensive line too. I just dont see it though. Their defense is utter trash. Tyrod's a good QB and he'll put up a nice season with those weapons, but he's not going to be able to elevate their destitute defense through that brutal division. Their intention is that they'll be able to jet ahead to leads then lean on a Garrett/Chubb pass rush to be so disruptive that only the real cream of the crop QB's will be able to mount effective resistances. I dont buy that really happening. They'll need quality defensive backs to capitalize on rushed passes and the Browns are completely bereft of secondary players. Its worse than the Bears a year ago even. Also I think its risky to telegraph to the league so obviously what their first two picks are going to be. |

Not anymore, no. He might have before the Browns made it obvious to everyone that is their plan. The Colts will either take Chubb themselves or trade down. The Browns could feasibly move up to 1.2 from the Giants, who will still be able to get their pick of the QB litter at 4, but that will eat into the rest of their 2018 draft or 2019 class significantly. I suppose there is some uncertainty about whether Cleveland will still take one of the top QB's, but that would be in lieu of Barkley not Chubb. They cant risk their guy going to the Giants, so they'd have to pick that QB #1 overall. I dont think Barkley falls out of the top 3 without someone trading up with Indy. In that case they probably get Chubb, but not Barkley. |
