Great move by NO. No way they can seriously trot out that special teamer as a backup to Brees, despite the preseason love. |

You mean Tom Savage wasn’t a great backup??? |

It would be pretty scary being on the short list of SB contenders and having Tom Savage and a Special Teams guy as your backup QB's. Likely though they just bought a very competent and still young successor to Brees for a low 3rd round pick cost. Has potential to be an absolute steal. |

Yea I dont get this from the Saints POV. The Jets did not sign Bridgewater to anything unreasonable, if the Saints wanted him so bad they should've just signed him for what it took the Jets to get him. And if he's stud...well he's also a free agent after this year and god knows what the franchise tag for a QB will cost after these Jimmy G and Rodgers deals. |

NO recognized their mistake and corrected it. Their GM also had one of the best drafts in recent memory last year so he's probably deserving of a little praise, yes. |

Given Brees' age and the low cost, I love this move. I'd have preferred that they'd simply have signed him as a fa, if it were possible (Which I don't think was), this is the best situation. If nothing else, maybe he's our 2017 Nick Foles. |

They get an upclose look at him for an entire season, and if he doesn't play meaningful snaps this year he's not getting an enormous offer from anywhere else. Like I said, missing out on signing him in FA was a mistake several teams made. The cost for NO correcting their mistake is definitely worth it, considering their contender status this season. |

Jets must've decided to run out Sam Darnold starting week 1. Jets/Darnold get the Lions and Matt Patricia's porous defense week 1. |

Teddy Throwsevelt's running days never really existed, but they are surely done now. He can barely move back there. I thnk its smart giving him another chance, he can be a good player, but this feels like overkill. The Saints totally changed the course of their franchise with last year's draft. I think FF undersells it calling it one of the better drafts in recent memory...one of the better ones I can remember period. They got 4 standout, pro-bowl caliber starters with some others who are still on the roster pressing for starting time this season. Anzalone and Hendrickson will probably make meaningful contributions this year. You think where the Saints were a year ago when they seemed like a dying star destined to be picking like 12th for the next 3-5 years as they ride Brees into total mediocrity and eventually retirement. Now they feel like legit contenders, stong at many positions. They deserve a ton of credit for that and I guess they have some margin of error to make a trade like this. |

they knew they needed someone who could handle a professional offense if brees went down, and giving up a 3rd round pick isn't a big deal considering they have already constructed a young team that's improving. getting bridgewater is a no-brainer. taysom hill is fine for sean payton's mental spankery but he can only be your future if you really do want to go back to the Aints days. tom savage is your average every-day career clipboard-holder. this is the team's last shot at a title, and they're trying to plug every hole there is. |

On what fucking planet is this a good move by the GM. With Darnold starting and McGowan the backup, Bridgewater might have been just cut. |

I usually want a backup who fits into the existing offense so that things don't have to be redesigned should Armageddon hit. Bridgewater's strength isn't the deep passing offense of no. I do like him playing ina dome and southern climate division |

you aren't going to fill the "deep passing" offense with tom savage and taysom hill either. bridgewater can at least run an NFL offense. |

Just another dude that couldn't beat out Josh McCown who thought he was done in the NFL about 10 years earlier. |
