Here's where u can post NFL scheduling quirks/oddities that u observe.

How bout Buffalo opening the season with two games in the Meadowlands. And won 'em both.

I wonder if anyone has ever played back to back games in the Meadowlands. I mean think about what has to happen. The out of conference team is played every 4 years, and every 8 years at each venue.

So you have one chance every 8 years for this to happen. And what are the chances it does? Only the Pats, Dolphins, and Bills can possibly have this scheduling quirk.

Or the Cowboys, Skins, and Eagles.

Or the Jets and Giants which have it happen every single year.

The Packers are currently in a stretch where they play 5 out of 6 at home. That's weird.

The NFL scheduling has been weird the last few years. Last year the Bears played 4 straight AFC east teams.

The Bears played back-to-back games at the Meadowlands in 2006. I remember a Giants-Jets-Patriots road trip in there.

Maybe have teams with home stadiums in the direct path of tropical storms year after year open the season on the road.

Bill Belichik plays on the road this year at all 3 cities in the tri-state area near his hometown (Maryland):

@Redskins
@Baltimore
@Philly

Bill has a lot of folks coming to see him at these games.

I've seen it happen before on occassion, but I still think it's a neat little quirk:

The Bears have played all their home division games, and still havent played a road division game. Will all happen in the last 5 games.

The Falcons in the first half the of the season did not play a SINGLE division game.

STarting with that win @ the Saints, they play all 6 division games in the second half of the season. They are in the midst of 5 division games in a row.

Havent seen this happen before where all division games are in the second half of the season. But cool.

There were only 2 games played in a dome this week per nflweather.com

The Lions have played a Thursday game every season since 1950. The odds of that randomly happening has to bear near 0.

The Lions have actually played a Thursday game every year since 1945, as they have hosted a Thanksgiving game in every season since. They actually started in 1934, but there were some interruptions of this during WWII.

We are actually both wrong which is nice.

They have played a Thursday game every year since 1945. The war cancelled it before.

Yes, I edited.

The Lions are 36-38-2 all time on Thanksgiving. I thought they would have been much worse. They must have kicked ass early on because lately they have been pretty dogshit on Thanksgiving.

It's not entirely unheard of, but the Colts last 3 home games, starting Nov 29, are all against their division.

Tenessee, Houston, and Jacksonville.

The Patriots played in the same road stadium 2 weeks in a row.

@ Chargers & @ Rams.

Then, on top of that, they play @ Miami, for a 3 game road trip.

Brady's Bucs have still not played the Falcons yet this year.

They play 2 games against ATL in the last 3 weeks.

Patriots play 5 of their first 7 at home.

Today vs Jets is that 5th game. (by the way, they are 0-4 at home)

You rarely if ever see that. You see first 4 of 6 but not first 5 of 7.

Also, first rematch of the year vs Jets. Kind of odd they play Jets both teams in the first 7 weeks.

The Browns are playing the Ravens in CONSECUITVE FUCKING games.

Week 12 & 14.

They have a bye in Week 13.

I've seen playing the same team 2 times in 3 weeks, but always with another game in the middle. Not a bye in the middle.

Should be interestin'.

i never looked into it.. do we know how games are scheduled? its not random, outside of the normal championship repeats to start a season and lions on thxgiving, is it? it seems like a board of idiots making monetary bets.

They start with not double-booking the Jets and Giants and kinda spin off from there. The most important thing is making sure they're never in the same timeslot (this went for Niners and Raiders and now goes for Rams and Chargers). They give the ESPN package a slate of good-not-great games that coast on market relevance alone, and those are immovable unlike the Sunday games. From there, I wouldn't be surprised if they set the whole thing up with index cards and a bulletin board. If baseball still doesn't schedule the entire 2430-game season with pen and paper, then they only stopped a few years ago, because last I checked, they did it manually.

Fun fact, FICO - your favorite credit score people - do most of the scheduling for professional sports.

Their software factors in off days, byes, home/away requirements, other events at venues, weather considerations, etc. They input a fuck ton of variables and spit out what we all like to complain about.

I did try out in the summer of 2018. Thought I had a good showing. They weren't interested. Two other people from my group got on, and one won.

How often do we see back to back Thursday games for a team? Cowboys played 2 Thursdays in a row.
