There is no way this will be viewed as a team-friendly deal at any point. I will go on record stating he will not get more than $450m for the 10 year duration. Zero chance he gets "passed up." Not based on his ability or performance, but the economics of the NFL are going to be declining, not increasing.

He may not get passed up but plenty of quarterbacks are already making close to the same for far less production. Quarterbacks like him can basically demand an extension and get it whenever they want from teams if they are good enough.

The only real reason it isn't a team friendly deal is if Mahomes declines very quickly but even then it looks like they get out of it after a few years if he falls that quickly.
