Can not wait to see how much is guaranteed and if his number is tied a percentage of the cap.

Whoo the Bears sure dodged a bullet by not drafting a qb worth locking up $400 million of their salary cap over 10 years.

Lets see the guaranteed money first. But yeah if he got anywhere close to $400 guaranteed than that would be remarkable.

Gretzky got a shopping mall when he signed his 21-year contract back in the day.

I hope Mahomes also got a COVID testing center or something.

Did Gretzky really sign a deal that long?

Edit: I just found the article. Scottie's contract has nothing on that stupidity.

Those guaranteed dollars seem light.

Sounds like it is a relatively low guarantee to tie himself up for 10 years. If the injury guarantee is 140, the actual is going to be less.

This is probably a 3 year deal for like 120 with 7 team options.

It'll be renegotiated literally next off-season. Point is he wont play anywhere else until he's in his mid/late-thirties, if ever.

I probably wouldn't go beyond 4-5 years with him either. But he'll still get between $40-45 million, unless he wins big this year.

There is no way this will be viewed as a team-friendly deal at any point. I will go on record stating he will not get more than $450m for the 10 year duration. Zero chance he gets "passed up." Not based on his ability or performance, but the economics of the NFL are going to be declining, not increasing.

Yeah..unless the cap goes way up, that contract is a poison pill.

Mahome's agent should be fired for this deal.

Sounds like Mahomes didn't want to gut them. He'll make more money on endorsements than the NFL money. I like it, be like Brady and take less and win more.

Mahomes has to play out the last 2 years of his rookie deal. The first year of this new contract is about $50M.

He may not get passed up but plenty of quarterbacks are already making close to the same for far less production. Quarterbacks like him can basically demand an extension and get it whenever they want from teams if they are good enough.

The only real reason it isn't a team friendly deal is if Mahomes declines very quickly but even then it looks like they get out of it after a few years if he falls that quickly.

(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is more talented than Mahomes. Mahomes just has the killer instinct that (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky lacks.
