While for some it's probably about the ethics of not "stealing a story" that's not exactly a dominating practice in modern journalism, What I'm really getting from the lack of anything from others is that it sounds like these accusations are so weighty and serious that you'd have to be absolutely certain of your sources to report them. To do it second and third hand and not be able to personally turn to your source when you're pushed back would be career suicide. The Post has made its name with investigative whistle blowing stories (Watergate, Pentagon Papers, etc.), it's perhaps one of the most uniquely equipped papers to handle this and the Redskins legal posturing/intimidation. I can attest that Joe Blow blogger doesn't want any of the smoke that's going to come from this, even if he does know the story.

The reason this story is taking so long to come out is likely because the Post had to do its own legal due diligence. If arguably the greatest investigative paper on the planet (I really don't even think it's arguable) is sitting on a story for a while then it means they're getting their ducks in a row and it's going to be a whopper.
